She was captured by confederate forces after crossing enemy lines to treat wounded civilians
she requested employment on secret service to spy on the enemy
she wanted to serve her country as a strong unionist during the civil war
no matter what she was determined to serve her country
after she retired she was a writer and lecturer supporting the women's suffrage movement
she was brave enough to serve in the civil war and other wars as a women
even though people didn't approve of her,she stood out and fought for her rights and what she wanted to do
