Transcript of corfu

97,000 inhabitants.
Situated in the lonian sea.
They speak in Greek.
It's currency is in Euro.
Traditional food - sofrito, grilled lamb, turkey soup and turkish delight are the most popular.
kavos
It's a sea-side village in Corfu island. It is now, a lively resort heavily devoted to tourism, and popular with young holidaymakers . The main part of Kavos are restaurants, shops, hotels and apartments.
archaravi
Archaravi is a settlement in the northern coast of Corfu. The area offers a view of the Albanian coast.It has water parks, beaches, hiking, shopping and seaside resorts.
Agios Georgois
Agios Georgios is a village and it's located in the northwestern part. Here you can discover;beaches, caves, walking or hiking and monasteries.

i have chosen this island because it is a really historical place. i have been there last summer and it was a wonderful experience.

January 1st - New Year's Day
There is a church ceremony,where presents are exchanged, and there is singing, dancing . A special cake, called a vasilopita, is baked with a coin inside. The person who finds the coin in his piece of cake, is said to have a year filled with good luck. The traditional New Year greeting is "Kali Hronia."
January 6th - Epiphany.
Epiphany is the celebration of Jesus's baptism by John the Baptist. The day is marked by blessing the waters. Around the island rivers, lakes and oceans are blessed.

March 25th - Independence Day
On that day it is celebrated with military parades in most major cities. Independence Day also coincides with the Feast of the Annunciation, so it is also a religious festival.

The flag has 3 colours ; Blue,Yellow and Red. The middle symbol shows that they were experts in ship building.
