Indus Valley

Occupations and Daily Life
Indus Valley Civilization was one of the first bronze age civilizations. It existed around 3300–1300 BCE. It covered an area about 1,260,000 km². The reason why the civilization collapsed is still unknown.
Indus Valley History has lots of things to learn about. They played with toy monkeys and
squirrels that could slide down a rope. They had a logo-syllabic script which is still undeciphered. Indus Valley had planned cities,
brick homes and sewage systems. Government of Indus Valley is still a mystery to solve. One of Indus Valley's inventions was the ruler. There are still many mysteries to solve of Indus Valley History.
What I have loved about the science in Indus Valley is that we still use some of the inventions today and without them we will have trouble doing some things that we do in our daily life's. The people in Indus Valley invented plastic surgery by making a new nose. They had also made something that we use daily in math class the ruler. The weather in Indus Valley was very hot and dry it was also monsoon seasons. They made the paper weight was a technology in Indus valley. The inventions they made have helped us in many ways
-Indus Valley's social structure determined a person's place and how they were treated in society.
-The Aryans had divided the society into 4 classes.......
-1. Priests {Brahmins}
-2. Warriors and Noblemen{Kshatriyas}
-3. Farmers and Merchants {Vaishyas}
-4. Servants {Sudras} -Brahmins were the highest caste and they received honor an respect.
-Their main occupation was to perform being ritual and religious leaders to the society. - They wore a cotton cord around their neck to show they are now twice-born. -The next were the Kshatriyas. -Their most important job was to guard the castle, the kingdom and it's people.
-The army was divided into four categories: Elephants, Calvary, Chariots and Infantry.
-After the Kshatriya caste were the Vaishyas.
-The majority of the kingdom were peasant farmers.
-Farmers had certain sizes of lands and grew crops such as wheat, lentils and barley. - They raised animals such as chickens, cows, horses, pigs, donkeys, sheep, and goats. -The lowest caste were the servants who were treated aggressively.
-Their job was to follow orders and serve for the higher castes.
- They had to work for the governments labor force, for example working at a textile mill or weapons factory.
- Even if someones job in society was filthy or clean their spot in society helped to run the whole process of their lives.
Trade played an important role in Indus Valley. Indus Valley traded with many Civilization and one of them was Mesopotamia. Written records and seals found in Mesopotamia tells us that Indus Valley traded gold,copper and jewelery with Mesopotamia. To trade traders travel
ed on oxen, camels, elephants, ferryboats a
nd bullock-carts. To check the weight they used stone cubes made out of flint as weigh
ts. Seals were used as labels.
