France and England were at war still. Madison tried to keep the U.S.A neutral. The federalists were at war with the republicans. In 1812 America went to a very important war with England. One night English army men came to Washington D.C.. Fearing a lot Dolley took famous painting of George Washington outside and ran away. Others did the same with the Decaloration of Independance. Place Born: Port Conway, Virginia Married to: Dolly Payne Todd Madison Children: None Date Died: June 28, 1836 Place Died: Montpieler Jobs Before he Became President: Gardener, Lawyer, Militia, Author. Number ( 1st president, 2nd president, etc ) : Fourth Vice President: George Clinton Terms Served ( one or two ): Two Years Served: Eight Years After the Presidential years Why did he leave office? (Lost election chose not to run again, etc.): He served two terms.
