Transcript of Omicron Beta

Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Omicron Beta Chapter The Omicron Beta Chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia was established on December 11, 1994, when a group of men from Nicholls State University felt that something was lacking in their college life. To fill that void, they began a journey that men who truly love music still follow to this day. SINFONIA Nationally, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia was established on October 6, 1898, at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. Sinfonia is considered the oldest secret society of music in the United States. Since that time, Sinfonia has grown into the largest music fraternity in the world, with more than 150,000 initiates, and chapters on over 200 college and university campuses across the nation. Brotherhood Sinfonia’s purpose is not only to bring men together as friends, but also to provide a network of brothers with whom men can commune - a support network that helps the individual to meet the challenges that face him in his daily life and in the professional world. Sinfonians share a love of music that unites them as brothers with a common interest. The Fraternity teaches men to develop themselves and their art not only for the sake of art itself, but also as a means of enriching the lives of others. Harmony The brothers of the Omicron Beta Chapter participate in numerous activities, both on campus and off, through out the year. In the fall, the Sinfonians present a concert of contemporary and classical music written for four part men’s chorus. They also participate in the national philanthropy, the Mills Music Mission, named after Sinfonia’s founder and first honorary member, Ossian E. Mills. The men go to local hospitals and nursing homes and sing to the residents in an effort to bring them the joy of music. Omicron Beta also participates in local Relay-For-Life events, as well as performances in local schools to show children that music can be fun. What's Next? Ask yourself; is there any other organization I would like to be a part of? We believe the answer is a resounding no. The men of Phi Mu Alpha accept as true the ideals set forth in our Object: The BEST fraternal spirit, the brotherhood of musical students, the advancement of American music, and a loyalty to Nicholls State University For more information, feel free to email the brothers at:
