Adams County Fair 1904-2014
Founded in 1904 by the Adams County Fair and Rodeo Association.
The first day was known as Tomato Day . A noon BBQ was followed by the Battle of Brighton (Tomato Fights).
Other popular events included Rodeo, foot races, eating competitions and baby contests.
Over the years famous or soon to be famous performers participated in the Rodeo including Famous African American cowboy Nate "Dead-Eye" Dick.
The annual event continued to grow until the Fairgrounds became too small and in 1964 the Adams County Board of County Commissioners decided to move the fair to the site of the former Denver Poor Farm near Henderson and construct new facilities. Since then the Adams County Regional Park has become the County's premier facility offering event facilities, hiking and biking trails, fishing and park facilities.
Although the Fair may look and feel different today than it did 110 years ago the core values remain the same!
Bring the community together crossing cultural demographics and ethnic lines to provide affordable family entertainment, education and enlightenment
Enrich the lives of our youth and provide them the tools to grow into tomorrow's leaders
