How is the robot taught to perform its task?
The robot was programmed before hand, so it could perform its functions without a remote control.
Describe the impact that this robot has had or could have on its intended audience.
This robot has an impact on its intended audience by being able to play by yourself with this robot.
What task does the robot perform? What human function or task does this robot simulate?
The Topio Robot is programed to play ping-pong or also known as table tennis.
It can move its arms, body, and legs like humans can. His brain is an artificial intelligence.
Where is the robot used? What is its work envelop?
This robot is used at ping-pong/ table tennis tournaments. He is also used for practical applications.
He has 39 degrees of freedom. There are a total of 39 joints, and has 264 muscles.
What sensors does the robot have and how does the robot use these sensors?
Topio has above a 1000 sensors that are different types, some used to measure and/or detect a huge variety of conditions like temperature, pressure, level, humidity, speed, motions distance, etc. He can sense the ball moving quickly towards him
He simply uses these sensors to play tennis, ping pong, and to dance.
Name some advantages and disadvantages of using a robot to complete this task.
Advantage- You could play tennis or ping pong inside with Topio and you have some form of a friend to play games with.
Disadvantage- You may lose all the time playing with Topio. Also it could glitch or freeze because it has so many sensors and so many parts.
Is the robotic end effector multi-functional? If so, what other task can it perform?
Yes, this robot has multiple functions.
It can perform tennis, dancing and ping pong.
What type of jobs/careers can this robot create to provide employment for people?
If you wanted your own gaming place and you couple put Topio on one side of a ping-pong table, and kids or adults could play by themselves.

The Topio robot in the future can play tennis, do more human like things, and talk.
I feel like the Topio robot will be able to play tennis because if it can play table tennis, why couldn't it play tennis.

What concerns do you have about the future use of robots in our society?
One thing i'm concerned about is that they will make them too powerful were we won't be able to stop them.
Also, i think that they could harm if they get to powerful.
What do you think about "giving up" control to a machine?
I think giving up control is crazy in my opinion because one thing you have no way of controlling it, and for two there is no easy way to shut it down.
I think that it would be very risky because the robot could go crazy and harm people, so giving up control to a machine would not be a good thing.
