Cooking Injera (Ethiopian Flat Bread)
I chose to cook Injera because it is one of the most popular Ethiopian foods. It is also fairly simple and easy to make.
Music is made up of different elements including rhythm and tone. "Music is said to be the language of emotions." Davies (1994)
I decided to write a report about AHA and the work they do.

AHA (African Humanitarian Action) is a humanitarian group that works all over Africa in places including Burundi, Dr Congo, Liberia, Rwanda, Sudan, Zambia, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Namibia, Somalia and Uganda. They help with the major problems and diseases in Africa by giving food, water and medical help to those living in poverty. They also educate many different communities in Africa about the prevention of Malaria, HIV/AIDS and much more.

For my art I focused on photography in Africa.

I created a survey for people to fill out about how certain pictures make them feel or what they remind them of.

Here are the four pictures that each student saw.

Comparison of Western Music and African Music
Western Music
African Music
Western Music is more structured than African Music. It has different genres such as Jazz, Pop, Rock and Roll, Electronic, etc.
African Music is said to be more of a cultral activity. African Music is a celebration and all of the tribal dances have a special meaning.
More on African Music
African Music uses a lot of percussion instruments.
African Music is defined as "A cultural activity which reveals a group of people organizing and involving themselves with their own communal relationships." (Chernoff, 1979)
Traditional African musical instruments are made mostly from natural materials.
"Chernoff gave an example of Ashanti children who sing to cure a bed wetter, in Benin they have special songs for children who cut their first teeth." (Comparison of Western and African Music, Zimbabwe University)
Most traditional African music is passed down through the generations orally.
Healthy Water Testing
For Science I did a prac on water. I tested the pH of four different samples of water (tank, bird bath water, town and lagoon). I also tested Sodium Hydroxide and Hydrochloric Acid.
