Because James Edward Oglethorpe, a British general and philanthropist, wanted to make a new colony, so he got a charter and made the colony here because it's so amazing here.
James Edward Oglethorpe founded the colony of Georgia after it had been more than 5 decades since the British have established a colony there. He founded it June 9, 1732.
On February 12, 1733, a group of 6 warships landed at Yamacraw Bluffs and set up on a site Oglethorpe chose earlier.
This is your cue to say ,"Yay! We love history!"
COME TO GEORGIA OR WE WILL EAT YOUR SOUL by Amelia Walther and Sofia Hutchison
A Brief History Lesson
The colony of Georgia was the vision of James Oglethorpe. However, by the time he received the charter he had discarded his plan to use debtors and hand selected the 116 men and women who would travel to South Carolina on the Ann.
Georgia concentrated on tobacco cotton, corn, vegetables, grain, fruit, and livestock. Southern colonies had the largest slave population, which worked on the plantations.
The colonists of Georgia were Roman Catholics and Jews. The main church was the Anglican church. It, though, was never the official religion of the state.
Why you should live HERE, IN THIS COLONY !!!!
Georgia has delicious peaches. Last of the 13 colonies. Has lots of deer and rabbits. There large forests, lots of wild animals, and fertile soil that is good for farming.
