Education List of College/University programs for Herpetology(#1): Job Description (All from #1)
A Herpetologist is a scientist who studies the life of Reptiles and Amphibians.

Most of their work involves teaching and research.

Herpetologists who teach need good public speaking skills and need to be inspiring to their students in order to interest them.

Some herpetologists work at zoos.

They also educate the public on the need to protect endangered animals. So some become conservationists.

Most of research is done in the wild. ex. traveling to Brazil to see the habitat of a specific frog. Herpetology Earnings (All from #1)
the average salary is $55-70 000
the salary ranges from below $30000 and up to $100000 depending on the level of education.
individuals with a bachelor's degree tend to earn less than ones with a master's degree What is a Herpetologist? Herpetology Jobs in Herpetology fall into 4 groups (#2):
College/University Employment
Government Work
Medical related work
Zoological park Type of Career Chemistry In chemistry we learned about chemical formulas and pH levels of substances (acids and bases)

In Herpetology scientists often take samples of poison from frogs and use them for research in medicine and other uses(4).

One use of the poison tree frog is its poison. the indigenous community in the Amazon use it as a natural cooling medicine(4). Climate Zookeepers in the amphibians/reptile section and any herpetologists going ona hunt for snakes and frogs need to know what type of climate and environment the animal lives in(1). Physics In a part of Physics we studied Optics and learned the anatomy of the human Eye(5).

In Herpetology, scientists often study the different part of the amphibian/reptile and compare it to the human part. Biology Since biology is the study of life and herpetology is the study of amphibians and reptiles, Biology is a very important field in this type of work(1). Relation to Science How does this relate to what we have learned in Science? Field of study Herpetology is a sub field of Biology Study of Amphibians and Reptiles(#3) Herpetology is a sub field of

Wildlife Biology
Biology University professors make an average of $66 000/year.
but it can range from $40-$140 000/year(#1) Subjects to take in Highschool(#1): Geography

Earth & Environmental Sciences
Geology National Salary Trend of Herpetology Keeper The Digestive system of a frog In Biology we dissected a frog and got a good look at its digestive system. A frog-as we all know-uses its tongue to catch its prey. But what some people dont know is that it uses its 2 front teeth(Vomerine Teeth) to hold the insect. While the frog swallows its meal, it needs to close its eyes and point them downward. This constricts the food and pushes it down the frogs throat(5). VOMERINE TEETH Relation In biology we learned alot about the different organ systems in animals and how each of them helps the body with daily function.

A herpetologist studies the life of Amphibians and Reptiles. In order to understand how they survive in the wild and how they function, a Herpetologist would need a clear understanding of tissues, organs and systems of living things. The main subject related to Herpetology is Biology, since they both study the life of animals and involve Environmantal Science(2). Its important for a Herpetologist to have a good understanding of different regions and terrains(2). For example the common garter snake lives in places where winter in extremley cold. since soft, diggable soil is rare and they need to live underground to survive during the harsh weather, most animals share their hibernating sites(6). But, the eastern brown snake lives in the desert region of Queensland, Australia. they also live in forests, swamps, savannah woodlands, grasslands and scrublands(7).
