Christianity started with a man named Jesus Christ. He was born in the Roman Empire in a place called Judea. His parents are Mary and Joseph. They raised him and took care of him. She miraculously conceived Jesus, apparently by the Holy Spirit.
Jesus had 12 disciples or followers that he chose. They went all around to preach and teach the gospel to people.
Some of the main cities in Christianity are Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Islam, and many more.
Death Of Jesus
Crucified on a cross.
Killed by the Romans for saying he was the "King of the Jews".
He was nailed to the cross, then stabbed in the side to make sure he died.
The Holy Trinity
There is a heaven and a hell
That there is one god
That Jesus is their savior
The Holy Trinity
Christians believe that God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are separate beings in the Godhead. God is the father, Jesus is the son, and the Holy Spirit knows all.
Heaven and Hell
The idea of heaven is righteous people will go and be in the presence of Jesus. There will be no sadness, pain, and sin. It will be peaceful and tranquil. Hell on the other hand is the complete opposite. People that refuse to not sin will go to hell. Where it will be a filthy fiery place.
Prayer is a major thing that Christians have done sense the beginning. It is a way of communicating with God. There was no set time that Roman Christians had to pray. Before meals, in pain or suffering, in time of need or help.
Persecution of Christians in the Roman Empire occurred over a period of about 300 years.
They were fed to lions.
Crucified on crosses and burned alive.
In one city they were even catapulted out of the city wall.
Constantine was a Roman emperor that allowed the Christians to worship and practice their religion. He also converted to Christianity. This was a huge deal because all the other emperors persecuted them. He may have been the reason Christianity is as big as it is now.
