The message... 1st Verse Chorus Who is Nickelback? 2nd Verse Who is in this band? 3rd Verse Since there is many paragraphs and verses that talk about different things, I broke them into each chorus and verse. This song is an amazing reminder that even though we’d like to think we have a long time to live here on earth, the fact is no one really knows, and there are definitely no guarantees! My best friend gave me the best advice
He said each day's a gift and not a given right
Leave no stone unturned, leave your fears behind
And try to take the path less traveled by
That first step you take is the longest stride If today was your last day
And tomorrow was too late
Could you say goodbye to yesterday?
Would you live each moment like your last?
Leave old pictures in the past?
Donate every dime you have?
If today was your last day Chad Kroeger:
lead vocals and lead guitar
Ryan Peake:
guitar, keyboards and back up vocals
Mike Kroeger:
bass and backing vocals
Daniel Adair:
drums and backing vocals Although they had a small-time start in Canada,
they are now huge in the US. Nickelback smashed onto the Billboard charts in 2001 with “How You Remind Me” and has convinced us to buy more than 14 million albums since then. Included in Nickelback’s trophy case are awards from the MTV Video Music Awards, the World Music Awards, the Billboard Music Awards, the Juno Awards, and several nods from the guys at the Grammy’s. Nickelback’s presence has been felt in the pop, hard rock, alternative, and metal crowds. In other words, us teenagers know who Nickelback is! But just because Nickelback is big, doesn’t mean they play nice. From “Fight for All the Wrong Reasons” to “Animals” to “Side of a Bullet,” the band
issues its fair share of dangerous
messages. Against the grain should be a way of life
What's worth the prize is always worth the fight
Every second counts 'cause there's no second try
So live like you'll never live it twice
Don't take the free ride in your own life And would you call old friends you never see
Reminisce old memories
Would you forgive your enemies
And would you find that one your dreaming of
Swear up and down to god above
That you'll finally fall in love
If today was your last day Song Analysis Camille T. November 29 For: Mme. Ginette In this introduction, the singer is explaining that his best friend gave him the best advice, each day is a gift and not a given right. Which means you never know when your last day will be, don't ever take it for granted.Leave no stone unturned means never stop looking forward, never let your fears stop you from finding that thing that gives your life meaning. And take the path less traveled by means that you should never be afraid to follow the beat of your own drum, not just go along with the latest fashion because the crowd does. Finally, that first step you take is the longest stride means that starting out on something new, a new job, a new relationship, a new life course is always scary. But no matter how scary it is once you start it will get easier as you go along. Before I finish, I will show you the song. And you probably heard this song many times but have you ever listened to the actual words? Now with all the lyrics explained to you, you can make your own ideal of what the lyrics mean for you... Did you know? This was the third single from Nickelback's sixth album "Dark Horse"
It was produced by famed rock producer Mutt Lange, who produced the entire album.
The music video was shot with director Nigel Dick in March 2009. Performance portions of the video were shot at the Qwest Center in Omaha, Nebraska. This video has many heart-warming parts.
In New York City, two young men leave their apartment, get on the subway and head downtown. Later, they can be seen on an overpass ready to toss something over the edge. The "something" is tiny pieces of paper with positive messages written on them, which are picked up and read by the people walking below. In another scene, a couple of women distribute jackets with various messages on the back of them, all taken from the song: "Do Whatever It Takes" and "It's never too late''. Elsewhere, a man walks into a bank and withdraws a large sum of money. As he leaves, he starts handing dollar bills to everyone he meets. And would you call old friends you never see
Reminisce old memories
Would you forgive your enemies
And would you find that one your dreaming of
Swear up and down to god above
That you'll finally fall in love
If today was your last day 4th Verse Well going with the grain is a term to say go with the flow.
What they are trying to say is go against the grain do what you want, dont follow someone or something else, do something for yourself your own way. Every second counts because theres no second try means you only live once (YOLO). Live life to the fullest you only get one try! I think the chorus is saying to block out tommorow, its going to be too late anyways. Also, forget about yesterday means dont focus on past errors just think of what you are going to do today since its going to be your last. Leave old pictures in the past refers to concentrating on the life ahead and not dwelling on past experience. Finally, donate every dime you have relates to helping people who need help and just go crazy and go travel who cares if you run out of money, today is your last day! ;) I chose this song because
I loved the meaning and the message. I used to always listen to it and I still do! Its a great inspirational song and lyrics that get you into thinking: what would you do if it was your last day? First of all, reminisce old memories stands for remembering the past but no regretting it. Would you be able to forgive your enemies and for once, have fun and dont leave this earth being mad and stressed. The best way to leaving this life is knowing you had the BEST last day ever. You might even fall inlove on your last day is what the band is communicating in the last few lines. This verse is a little bit like the one before it, could you reminisce old memories, call up your friends you never see, find your love and would you forgive your enemies.
