files or highlight Fear of public speaking has negative effects on careers and influences success in life negatively when you do nothing about it.
3 out of 4 individuals suffer from speech anxiety: that’s 75% of the population
Up to 5% of the world population, yes, hundreds of millions aged between 18 and 54, experience this kind of social phobia in any given year.
Women and men are equally affected by public speaking.
More men than women seek treatment for cure of fear of public speaking. Some speakers have turned to beta-blockers or hypnosis therapy to find relief. Others prefer self-help materials.
Social phobias often start with shyness in childhood or early adolescence, and progresses during adolescence, according to scientific studies of fear or public speaking statistics. “I’m not afraid, I just like to keep a low profile.” Stage Fright – Scary words in and of themselves. Social scientists abondoned the term for “communication anxiety,” and then further modified the term for “communication apprehension.”
Whatever it is called, it is universally recognized:
Mouth goes dry
Stomach feels like a blender on high speed (a.k.a. butterflies)
And that is just when you are asked to speak!
