The Great Smog
the great smog a happend in 1952.
more than 4,000 people died and more than 12,000 were affected.
it happened on Tuesday, December 9 of 1952.
it held up for 4 days.
crime had increased and livestock had been reported dead.
the source of the smog was mainly from coal fires.
Chernobyl nuclear power plant
in 1986, April 26 there was a nuclear power plant disaster in Ukraine. An explosion accured in reactor no. 4 in the power plant.The disaster exposed one-tenth of the Ukraine's 233,090 square miles.the explosion was 400 times more potent than the atomic bomb droped on Hiroshima.Over 1,000,000, people were exposed to the dangerous levels of radiation. Of those people about 40,000 people had cancer deaths and no body really knows how many survived.
