Rules of the Shop Before entering the shop students should clear their minds and only think about their projects and safety in the shop


Remove all loose or sloppy clothing before entering the shop


Make and secure all adjustments before starting the machine


Never operate a machine if the instructor is out of the shop


RULES If you have long hair keep it held back or in a hat


You shall not use a machine unless Mr. LaFave has taught you how to use it


Any strange noise or malfunction of the machine should be reported to Mr. LaFave


Think through each operation carefully before turning on the machine MORE RULES


Defects in materials such as warp, loose knots, checks, and a wane can cause serious accidents


Check with your instructor before machining a defective of wood, don't use pieces that have nails, rocks, or sand imbedded in it


Before performing machining operations on short pieces of wood, check with the instructor, consider anything under 12'' as a short piece

When help is needed with a job ask the instructor for a helper and tell the helper exactly what you want done A FEW MORE RULES


The instructor must inspect all special setups before they are used
Keep the machine table clean at all times (remove all objects before starting such as wrenches, tools, scrap wood, etc.)
Always wear some sort of eye protection
Wear ear protection if necessary
Try not to wear Bracelets and necklaces because they become a safety hazard
To prevent slipping on the floor wear shoes with rubber soles and always wear a close toed shoe

Use common sense while you're working in the shop and don't be stupid
Don't mess around or run around you may injure yourself or someone else
Don't bump people while they're working because you think its funny it could just mess up their project or even injure them
Always pay attention because if you don't you just may fail on a project or might just get called on and you say "uhh" Created by:
