Harry Potter the Prezi

First prezi, trying it on a subject I know well, Harry Potter. Very concise summary of Sorcerer's Stone + general HP info. PotterPuppetPals and Starkid mentioned. This is a project for school, hence the footnotes. This is now completely done.

Transcript of Harry Potter the Prezi

Harry Potter "The Boy Who Lived" Harry's story began when Voldemort killed his parents when he was a baby, Voldemort tried to kill him but instead the spell rebounded and destroyed Voldemort, leaving Harry famous with a lightning bolt scar on his forehead because his mother died to save him. Harry was then left at his muggle aunt and uncle's house, not knowing he was famous or special. Hagrid tells Harry about Hogwarts, the wizarding school, and takes him to buy school supplies at Diagon Alley in London. Much to Harry's shock almost everyone recognizes him because of his scar, he's famous because of the story about how he killed Voldemort. The next day classes began, Potions with Professor Snape (who hates Harry and is the head of Slytherin house), Transfigurarion with Professor McGonagall (head of Gryffindor house), Charms with Professor Flitwick (head of Ravenclaw house), Herbology with Professor Sprout (head of Hufflepuff house), Defense Against the Dark Arts with Professor Quirrell and a few other classes. When the first years were having flying lessons, Harry pulled off a very dangerous stunt with no instructions without getting hurt and earned a position on the Gryffindor Quidditch team. Harry, Ron, and Hermione knew that Snape was going to steal the stone when Dumbledore left the school for the Ministry of Magic so they tried to get the stone themselves. Ron and Hermione didn't make it to the end and went off to get Dumbledore while Harry went to the very end to get the stone. When Harry gets to the Stone it isn't Snape or Voldemort who was trying to steal it, but it was Professor Quirrell. Quirrell was the one who was trying to kill Harry at the Quidditch match, and Snape was on to him. The stone was inside the Mirror of Erised, the mirror shows you what you want most, and it showed Quirrell presenting the stone to Voldemort. Quirrell took off the turban he wore all the time to reveal Voldemort living off the back of his head. Quirrell got Harry to look into the mirror and Harry saw himself getting the stone, and all of a sudden he had it. Voldemort knew he had the stone and ordered Quirrell to take it from him. Quirrell tried to grab the stone but touching Harry caused his skin to burn. Harry kept Quirrell in enough pain to stop him from killing Harry when Dumbledore showed up as Harry fainted pulling Quirrell off of him. J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter series has sold more than 400 millions books worldwide and has been translated into 67 languages. Deathly Hallows (the 7th book) is the fastest selling book in history. The Harry Potter books have 7 movies so far, with the second part of Deathly Hallows coming out in July of 2011. Harry Potter has become so popular that it earned its own theme park in Orlando, Florida called The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Harry Potter's fandom is huge, the fans have made everything from fan-fiction to "Wizard Rock" bands One of the most well-known Harry Potter parodies is Potter Puppet Pals, made by Neil Cicierega. Of all of the Potter Puppet Pals episodes, "Mysterious Ticking Noise is the most well known/viewed. Wizard Rock or Wrock is a musical movemant that began with "Harry and the Potters" in Massachusets and has spread internationally. The bands are usually of younger music writers who write and perform humorus songs about the Harry Potter series. Thanks For Viewing! Another Harry Potter parody is A Very Potter Musical and A Very Potter Sequel by the theater group Team Starkid. Starkid Productions first performed their show "H. P. the Musical" on April 9–11, 2009 at the Walgreen Drama Center on the University of Michigan campus. They changed the name to "A Very Potter Musical" and joined youtube on June 19, 2009 under the name StarkidPotter. *They were all in college back then. Starkid then made a second Harry Potter musical, "A Very Potter Sequel" performed May 14-16, 2010 at the Walgreen Drama Center. It came onto youtube July 22 and was premiered at the Harry Potter Fan Conference at Infinitus on July 17. The sequel is more of a prequel because it's set in his first year. It goes through the plot of books 1, 3, and 5. Starkid sort of took all of the Harry Potter books and threw them into a blender for their musicals. A Very Potter Musical goes through the plots of books 1, 4, 6, and 7 but is set in his second year. Once aboard the Hogwarts Express, Ron and Harry meet Hermione, Draco, Crabbe, and Goyle. Hermione they dismiss as annoying and Draco, Crabbe, and Goyle became Harry's instant enimies. Potter Puppet Pals is a mostly live action (they have a few animated ones) with short episodes poking fun at Harry Potter. This is the very beginning of AVPM, the audio isn't very good so you have to listen carefully to hear what the actors are saying most of the time. (The instruments/audience can get too loud). This is only the first half of the first song, "Goin' Back to Hogwarts". Harry Potter has touched thousands of lives with its story of love, friendship, courage, and loyalty. It's no surprise that adults are attracted to Harry Potter, even though it's labeled as a children's story. Jo Rowling's amazing writing style has made a story that will be loved for years to come. That's the thing about Hogwarts, no matter how long you're away from it there's always a way back. - Darren Criss (Harry) - A Very Potter Sequel My apologies for the two strong-ish swears in here, the sequel has more cussing than the first one. This isn't the very beginning, in the beginning a bunch of Death Eaters go back in time to Harry's first year but this part makes a better intro. Harry has just gotten to the train station. The conductor in blue is a muggle. When Harry woke up in the hospital wing Dumbledore visited him and told him what happened. Quirrell died after Voldemort left him. The mirror made it so only someone who wanted to find the stone and not use it would be able to take it. Gryffindor won the house cup tournament because Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Neville had all earned enough points ending book one, Sorcerer’s Stone. Ten years later Harry is still living with his horrible relatives without a clue that he’s special, except for the scar and a few mishaps of the magical sort. When they went to the zoo on his cousin Dudley’s birthday, Harry found out that he could talk to snakes, and he accidentally set one loose on Dudley by making its glass wall in front of the pen disappear. Harry's broom was being jinxed and as a result it was trying to buck him off. Quidditch is a wizarding sport played up in the air on broomsticks. There are 2 teams and 7 players on each team. There are 4 balls used in Quidditch, the Quaffle, the Snitch, and 2 Bludgers. The Bludgers fly around and try to knock player off of their brooms. On each team there are 2 Beaters, their job is to use bats to knock the Bludgers away from people on their team towards the other team. The Quaffle is used to score goals, three Chasers on each team try to thriow the Quaffle through the other team's goal post. Each team also has a Keeper who gaurds the goal posts. The last and most important player is the Seeker who tries to catch the Snitch, a tiny golden ball that sprouts wings and flies all over the stadium making it very hard to see. Each time a Quaffle is thrown through a hoop it counts as 10 points, where the Snitch is caught the game is over and that team earns 150 points and usually wins. A little while after that Harry starts receiving letters delivered by owls that he's not allowed to read until the Dursleys try to flee from the letters by going out to a small, remote island in a stormy sea where Hagrid, the gamekeeper at Hogwarts, comes and tell Harry that he's a wizard and lets him read one of the letters. About a month later, Harry leaves for the train station looking for platform nine and three quarters feeling completely lost after his aunt and uncle left him stranded there. Then he hears a group of people talking about muggles and Hogwarts and heads over to investigate. He meets Ron Weasly who's also a first year heading to Hogwarts with his brothers. They board the Hogwarts Express and sit in the same compartment and Ron discovers who Harry is. When the Hogwarts Express arrives at Hogwarts the first years are Sorted into their houses by the Sorting Hat based on their abilities/characteristics. Slytherin is the house known for it's cleverness and ambition, and for being the most sinister house, that all dark witches or wizards come from. Ravenclaw is the house of the quick minded/brainy. Hufflepuff is the least appriciated house known for hard workers and loyalty. Gryffindor is usually the most desirable or "good guy" house known for its courage/bravery. Harry, Ron, and Hermione get put into Gryffinor and Crabbe, Goyle, and Malyfoy all get put into Slytherin. The year goes mostly smoothly until Harry, Ron and Hermione (who's now their friend) find out about the Sorcerer's Stone and suspect that Snape is going to steal it despite all of the defenses that are placed around it. Their suspicions are confirmed when Snape nearly kills Harry at a Quidditch match, Snape had his leg injured by the giant dog guarding the stone, and he was threatening Quirrell to tell him about something guarding the stone.
