CAT CRY SYNDROME Jerome Lejeune Jerome is a geneticist who identified Cri Du Chat syndrome in the year 1963 Cry Cat Syndrome can also be known as Cri Du Chat, which is french for "cry of the cat", or Chromosome 5p Delection Syndrome. Symptomsand signs for Cri Du Syndrome include... Wide-set eyes Simian Crease in hand Round face Folds of skin over eyes Small bridge nose Small head There is no treatment for Cat Cry Syndrome. They could go use therapy to improve their language skills, motor skills, and help them develop as normally as possible. Cat Cry Syndrome is very rare.
It is caused by a problem with chromosome 5. The syndrome is formed during the development of the egg or sperm. A rare amount of parents pass a different form of the chromosome to their child. Cat Cry Syndrome disease is neither
autosomal or sex-linked, rather the
majority of deletions are new mutations. Some children with Cri
du Chat Syndrome are also
born with heart defect. Interesting Facts Child with Cri
du Chat Cri du chat syndrome occurs in an
estimated 1 in 20,000 to 50,000 newborns. The syndrome is based on an
infant’s cry, which is high-pitched
