Components of a balanced lifestyle: Sleep Most teenagers need about 8-10 hours of sleep every 24 hours. Entering deep sleep allows us to, when we wake up, feel refreshed and revitalized. Without the recommended amount of sleep we will start to feel tired, lethargic, easily annoyed, irritable and grumpy. Components of a balanced lifestyle: Rest As many people may think, rest is not the same as sleep. Rest is essential for teenagers and everyone else. It helps to give their bodies back the energy lost from being mentally and physically active all day long. Living without rest would result in fatigue. What is a Balanced Lifestyle? A balanced lifestyle is when all the components of your health are in good form and are working in cohesion with each other. If you have a balanced lifestyle, in simple terms, you are fit, happy, have good working relationships with the people around you, you stay in touch with your faith and your happy to be alive! Components of balanced lifestyle: Schoolwork/study Components of a balanced lifestyle: Physical activity A fair amount of physical activity is required for a growing teenager to stay fit and physically healthy. Unfortunately a large amount of people don't meet these requirements. The physical activity could be anything from going on a bike ride, going to the gym, going for a run, sport, or even walking around a school playground (as long as its not the only thing you do!). Components of a balanced lifestyle: Leisure and Recreation Leisure and recreational activities are things you like to do for yourself. This can be sitting down to read a book, meeting up with friends, playing video games and playing sport. The activities can either be active or passive. Having something like this to do gives you a break from everything else and is important in keeping you happy and making sure you don't get bored with having the same routine. This work helps prepare you for when you leave school. It is important that you complete all work with your best effort. Short breaks between periods allow you to rest. Benefits of physical activity There are many benefits in taking part in physical activity. If you do a sport, for example soccer, apart from improving in that sport you will become fitter and faster. You will also gain new friends as it is a team sport. It also gets you out and keeps you overall, healthy. If you do something like going to the gym, depending on what equipment you do and what your focusing on you can achieve many things like: increased cardio, increased muscle strength and many other things. As a teenager, it is important that you keep a balanced lifestyle, although sometimes this can be hard as there are many factors that may impact on this and disturb this balance. There are many of these factors, for example, if you break your leg you may be unable to take part in sport which would then lead to a lower level of fitness. On the complete other side, you may be having trouble at school, whether it be with friends or the work you are being given, this can cause anxiety and depression which is something no teenager should have to deal with.

No matter what the problem it is important that you talk to someone about it and try and find a solution that will help restore the balance in your life. THANK YOU
THE END A balanced lifestyle is essential for good health for teenagers because it is a crucial stage in development, if you are unfit, unhappy or unwell it can have a significant effect on your life. If you are fit you are going to have fun running around playing sport etc. If you are happy you are going to have a better time and enjoy things more, and as long as you are in good health, life should be very enjoyable in general.
