photo credit Nasa / Goddard Space Flight Center / Reto Stöckli Introduction of Non- Indigenous Species Invasive species are non-native organisms that take away the habitat and resources, forcing the native species to lose population or die off completely.

A major cause of invasive species coming to another area, is humans accidentally exposing other species into another environment. Many animals that seem to be native
may actually turn out to be invasive. By: Jason Wang, Cameron Dees, Jack Long, and Andrew Plourde Dingos were brought to Australia by European travelers. An example of an invasive species we see every day is kudzu originally from Asia, kudzu has little to no natural predators in the US it has taken over many forests by covering other plant life •Asian carp —
The overall title for the species of silver, bighead and
black carp from Asia—are a fast-
growing fish that out-compete
native fish for food and habitat. Other examples of invasive species Bibliography http://www.contentcaboodle.com/news-and-society/effect-of-introducing-alien-species-into-an-ecosystem.html http://www.cbd.int/invasive/ IAS (invasive alien species) can spread unknown diseases in an environment The Dingos thrived in the Australian outback due to the lack of natural predators. IAS's can also use up resources other species need in an environment http://www.nwf.org/Wildlife/Wildlife-Conservation/Threats-to-Wildlife/Invasive-Species.aspx Some animals can be hunted to extinction by an ISA. Do-do birds are an example of this process. The dodo birds had no enemies on the coast of Africa until explorers brought animals such as pigs, dogs, and unintentionally, rats. These animals consume dodo bird's eggs leading them to extinction. o how can it hurt the environment http://www.kidzworld.com/article/353-history-the-dodo-bird their ecosystems have smaller populations so if one species is effected, all of them are island habitats are especially vulnerable to invasive species Most of the animals or plants that are alien were brought from some where else by humans humans play a big part in species invasion sometimes its on purpose, like the rabbits we brought to Australia for sport sometimes its on accident, rats usually sneak aboard ships http://www.kidzworld.com/article/353-history-the-dodo-bird •Cogongrass is an Asian plant that arrived in the U.S. as seeds in packing material. It is now spreading through the Southeast, displacing native plants. It provides no food value for native wildlife. Invasive species in Georgia Fire Ants were introduced to the U.S in the
1930's They cover over 300 million Georgia acres except in the mountainous regions. Other examples of GA species include Kudzu, Chinese Privet, hydrilla, japanese honeysuckle, and the Chinese Tallow
