Transcript of urinary system

urinary system
renal system
function of urinary system:
• *
Removal of waste
product from the body
* Regulation of
electrolyte balance

•* Regulation of
acid-base homeostasis
•* Controlling
blood volume
and maintaining
blood pressure

The
ureters
are a pair of tubes that carry urine from the kidneys to the urinary bladder. The ureters are about 10 to 12 inches long
Bladder
Brain centers that regulate urination include the pontine micturition center, periaqueductal gray, and the cerebral cortex.
urination
In males, urine is ejected through the penis, and in female placental mammals through the vulva
Urine is formed through a combination of four basic processes:
1) glomerular filtration,
2) tubular resorption
3) tubular excretion
4) water conservation.

the blood is under high pressure in the glomerulus
the passage of solutes from the plasma in the peritubular capillaries to its lumen
water reabsorbed into the blood
additional water is removed from the urine, concentrating the wastes.
