Outdoor Activities
&
eTwinning

İstanbul / May, 2014
Outdoor Activities + ICT =
eTwinning
How?
An eTwinning Project Starts with some classical steps like;
"Introduction"
You are supposed to introduce
your school
,
your hometown
,
some other characteristics related to your culture.
this simple beginning may be a chance for you to include your pupils in outdoor activities
or
,
you make your pupils think that eTwinning is waste of time :)
The pupils simply make searches on the web and get some photos about the topics
form groups of pupils and give some tasks
a team for school introduction
a team for city presentation
a team for cultural displaying
Our First Outdoor Activity
The question is "
How can we handle a specific topic with the full attendance of pupils and do it outside?"
How can we
explain
/
show
/
teach
sth to our partners other than using ICT?
In general
Hands-on, Experiential Education:
We strongly believe that students learn most effectively when learning-by-doing, learning through hands-on activities, guided discovery, and outdoor play.
Powerful Outcomes
: Outdoor Education has been proved to increase self-confidence, teamwork, environmental awareness, creativity, physical fitness, communication skills, and concentration
Local Connections:
By bringing the rich, powerful learning experiences of outdoor programs to students local environment, it may be possible to connect these students meaningfully with that environment – building community, awareness, and education all at the same time.
WHY?

Because it has a positive effect
both on
Education
and
the quality of project

Cross-Curricular Learning
: Engaging students multiple intelligence’s by integrating physical education, science, social studies, mathematics and language arts. Outdoor activities are engaging, effective, and worthwhile for all our students.
in private
Kids don't have conversations-they have Facebook chats; they write and report on the smallest of activities but there is no up close and personal contact, no meeting of the eyes and human expressions, no hugs or feelings.
THE LACK OF HUMAN RELATIONS
Kids get bored easily during the lessons. We have to enrich the teaching/learning environments to motivate them and take their interest
THE LACK OF MOTIVATION IN EDUCATION

Kids try to reach all their goals by using ICT
TECHNOLOGY ADDICTION
Two separate groups, consisting of 3 pupils, took their cameras and started to explore the cultural-historical buildings across the city. This event really made them feel motivated,
excited
and
eager
to
work
on project.
Then, we started a campaign against waste of paper and come together with my students and talked possible steps.
the ideas coming from my pupils are all related to use internet, find slogans, print them and stick on the school walls.
The next step was a painting competition on forests
