Allusions in Movies
We have found two modern movies that allude to the story of "Moses and the Parting of the Red Sea". The first is a very obvious allusion and it comes from the movie "Bruce Almighty". We can tell it is an allusion, not only because it is being parted, but because it is RED soup that is being parted.

The characters of "Uncle Tom's Cabin" who are slaves, flee across a magically frozen Ohio River–represented by an undulating swathe of white silk–which then melts and engulfs the evil hunters. This scene is of course an example of the retelling of the story of the biblical story, Parting of the Red Sea.

The second is in "The Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader". One of the very last scenes in this movie, Aslan opens up the waters, parting them, leading Prince Caspian to a better life, just like what Moses was doing for the Isrealites.
In the book, The Crucible, one of the characters, Abigail is in involved in a court case, and makes her way through the court room as everyone parts for her. The exact quote: "Abigail brings the other girls into the court, and where she walks the crowd will part like the sea for Israel."
The Passaggio del Mar Rosso was paintd in 1692 by Cosimo Rosselli an Italian painter. It is on display in the Church of st George in Italy. In the picture, the waters of the Red Sea are closing on the fallen eygptian soldiers and the people of Isral are praying in thanks to the Lord.
The Crossing of the Red Sea was painted from 1481-1482 by Antonio Cifrondi during the Renaissance. It is on display in the Sistine Chapel In the picture, a pillar representing God's pillar of fire can be seen along with the faces of the eyptions falling in the Red Sea and the storm of God's punishment of Eygpt in the background.
In "Miriam's Song" the artist, Debbie Friedman sings about how the Red Sea parted and marching into the promised land, and it alludes to Moses parting it, and leading his people away from the Pharoh.
The Sea – Water almost always symbolizes the source or mother of all life. The sea has always had a good and an evil side in literature. Characters have had many awful things happen to them, like in this case, been swallowed by a sea that used to be parted. It's not surprising that the sea can be written about as a dangerous force of nature, but many good things can come out of it too, such as freedom like the Israelites gained after crossing it.
The archetypal situation of Moses and the Parting of the Red Sea would be fleeing the enemy. Moses and his people fled as he lead them out as the King and his soldiers attempted to chase them.
The archetypal character played by Moses is a mix of the caregiver, and the hero. The hero of a story usually "saves the day" and is fully aware of how great he is, and does the heroic acts to prove how great he is, but Moses doesn't show all of the qualities of a hero. He genuinely cared about the Israelites' safety, and didn't save them to prove himself to them. Moses was humble about it, and in moments like that, the qualities of a caregiver are shown in him.
The archetypal symbol could be the water itself. Water usually means baptism and leaving and old life or self behind, which is exactly what the Israelites were doing, cleansing and starting over with "Baptism" being crossing the Red Sea.
In this allusion the song is referancing Moses because the person has power over the singer. They can get him to do whatever they want, just like Moses could when he parted the Red Sea.
We didn't really know what to do for this, so we did the story in a school instead of Egypt. Please ignore the bad acting and fake running.

There were few discrepancies but when the versions were different, they were all different in similar areas.

Verse 3

ESV: They are wandering in the land; the wilderness has shut them in.

King James: They are entangled in the land, the wilderness hath shut them in.

NIV: They are wandering around the land in confusion, hemmed in by the desert.

New American: They are wandering aimlessly in the land, the desert has closed in on them.
Verse 8

ESV: the people of Israel were going out defiantly.

King James: the children of Israel went out with a high hand.

NIV: the Israelites were marching out boldly.

New American: the people of Israel were marching away in triumph.

Throughout the versions of this story the words honor and glory are often used interchangeably.
