Iran government has selected children around the ages 14 and 16 to be armed with batons, clubs and air guns and ordered to attack demonstrators who have tried to gather in Tehran. The youths apparently recruited from rural areas are being deployed in regular riot police roles and comprise up to one-third of the total force, according to witnesses.

one of the many contributors to the conflict is the government had been attracted by the promise of chelo kebab dinners, one of Iran's national dishes.

The children role's in the riots is to be riot control. The riot the children were involved in was the Iranian protests which are a series of demonstrations across Iran which began on 14 February 2011, called "The Day of Rage".The protests followed the 2009–2010 Iranian election protests and were influenced by other concurrent protests in the region. To date the protests have resulted in at least three known deaths, with dozens more being hospitalized and hundreds arrested.
