If people have a goal in mind it helps them not give up when obstacles come their way.
Holocaust - Many jewish people tried to make the best of their situation, like in Schindler's List there was a couple that fell in love and wanted to be married right then and there, even though they knew at any moment they could be killed. Their love gave them hope and something to look forward to while trying to overcome the horrible situation they were in.
Schindler's List
What gives people hope in tough situations?
Religion
Family/Friends
Dreams/Future Plans
Hope is a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen.
What is hope?
Religion
People believe that a higher power will guide them through life.
In bad situations, religion helps people stay positive and hope for a better outcome.
The main character is Oskar Schinlder and he's a German businessman who starts a company that makes cooking utensils. His brings his friend/accountant to help run the factory. He fills the factory with Jews who were brought into a ghetto by Nazi troops. Once he notices that his factory is the only thing preventing his workers from being brought to death camps he demands more workers. Then he starts bribing Nazi leaders to keep Jews on his employee list & out of the camps. After everything was over, Schindler lost his entire fortune & saved over 1,100 people from dying.
Family/ Friends
Everyone want to make their family proud so that gives them motivation to do better and get out of the situation they are in.
Connections to Society
Everyone deals with their own struggles through life & they all have different things that help them overcome it.
Examples in life where people need hope..
hoping you get into your dream college.
hoping a family member gets better when they are serverly sick.
hoping to find a job
if someone is poor they hope they find food/shelter
Another Connection...
When people are faced with a challenge they either do everything they can to change it or they let it take over their life.
