WELCOME TO THE JOURNEY OF
LEARNING .... Circulatory system in Fish

Single closed circulatory system -Blood flows thru the heart TWICE
-Consists of

PULMONARY SYSTEM
-Blood is carried from heart -> lungs -> heart
-Deoxygenated blood from body -> right atrium (by vena cava) ->
right ventricle
-Blood is then pumped from pulmonary artery -> lungs (exchange of blood occurs)
-Oxygenated blood -> left atrium -> heart

SYSTEMIC SYSTEM
-Oxygenated blood -> heart -> body -> heart
-From lungs -> left atrium -> left ventricle
-Then thru aorta -> all parts of body (gases exhange in tissue)
-deoxygenated blood -> vena cava -> right atrium Circulatory system in humans

Complete doubled closed circulatory system Comparison between the circulatory
system in fish, amphibian, human -Heart consists of of three chambers – 2 atria , 1 ventricle
-Blood is pumped thru the heart TWICE
-Deoxgenated blood from body -> right atrium
-Oxygenated blood from lung -> left atrium
-Deoxygenated and oxygenated blood pushed -> ventricle
-The ventricle then pumps blood thru pulmonary circulation system & systemic circulation system Circulatory system in amphibians

Incomplete doubled closed circulatory system PROBLEM FACED BY FISH Blood faces a high resistance
- Has to pass thru 2 network capillaries
(gill & systemic capillaries)
-causing reduction in the flow of blood

Diameter of capillaries are small
-Giving a high resistance to the blood flow -Heart consists of –atrium
-ventricle
-The ventricle pumps deoxygenated blood -> blood capillaries in gills (gaseous exchange occurs)

-The oxygenated blood leaves the gills and flows in body tissues (systemic circulation)

In the systematic capillaries
-O2 diffuses in the tissues
-CO2 diffuses out of the tissues and into capillaries
-The deoxygenated blood then flows back heart
