Stephen F. Austin was Moses's son.when Moses was going to start a new colony he died.His son Stephen F. Austin took in place and carried out the plan. Stephen visited Texasin 1821 to choose land for the colony.

The colony
The spanish government had troublesettling Texas. Some of the Spaniards and Mexicans wanted to move to Texas. Bands were outlawing Texas.
The americans business mans (Moses Austin)heard about the Spaniards government. The Spaniards government were offering grants,or giftsof Texas land.In December 1820 he traveled from Missouri to San Antonio to ask the spanish governor, Antonio Maria Martinez for permission to start a colony.
