using line and shadowing pablo has manipulated the painting to make himself appear much older, maybe reflecting on how he feels.. old and done with it all (Pablo was only 20 at the time) he uses the color Blue a lot in this painting, to convey maybe the cold that was encompassing Paris at the time or maybe something deeper.
