When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit

The setting takes place first at Berlin,Germany but as Anna and her family move, they go to Switzerland; Paris, France; and then London, England. At these places, Anna visits family members that she has never seen before such as great aunt Sarah who they see in Paris, France.
The story starts in 1933 and ends around 1936 when Anna and her family arrive in England having spent the years in between in Switzerland and France.
When does the story take place?
Everything was fine until Anna and Max woke up and their Father was not home. Their mother told them that their father has left Germany and that they will secretly meet him in Switzerland, because Germany is no longer safe.
Rising Action: Anna & Max wake up finding out that their father wasn't home (House in Berlin).

Climax: Anna and Max find out that they have to move to Switzerland to escape the Nazis.

Falling Action: Anna and her Family move from Paris, France to their lasting home, London, England.

What is The Theme?
In the beginning of the book Anna thinks about how she wants a difficult childhood because she bought this book of great people in history. That book explained how most of them had a rough childhood. Anna wanted to be famous but can't due to her Father being "famous" and her not having a bad childhood. Then at the end of the book she realizes that she had a difficult childhood because she had to constantly move learning new cultures and customs each time.
Anna: She's the main character. She's age 9 at the beginning of the book and age 11 at the end.
Max: Anna's older brother.
Heimpi: Housemaid, they had to leave Berlin without her.
Mama: Anna's mother who is a stay at home mom and often spends many days with Anna.
Papa:Anna's father who is a noted Drama critic, journalist and screenwriter.
Onkel Julius: A family friend of Anna and her family.

Other Notes:
Judith Kerr, author of "When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit" actually based the book on her childhood life. Judith's birth name is Anne Judith Kerr, so you can guess where she got the names for her characters.

What does the Title mean?
The title "When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit" is from when Anna and Max were still in Berlin,Germany and could only pack important items like cloths. So Anna had to leave her stuffed Pink Rabbit there. Later when Anna and Max find out that right after they left the Nazis took everything, they where imagining there house empty and were joking around saying that Hitler was snuggling with her Pink Rabbit.
