Why you need that procedure?
Why is it important?
How does it help maintain health and safety?
Provide a sporting example of where it would be used?
In groups, read the handout and discuss:

1. What considerations does the code of conduct give to health, safety and well-being of those involved?

2. Can you think of any additional areas of health and safety you would include?

They must ensure the safety of their employee's.
They can make changes that they feel are necessary to improve the safety of colleagues.
They also provide information or training for workers to make them more aware.
Other Coaches/Leaders
Other coaches/leaders may have a better understanding of a certain topic than you.
They may offer their opinions or advice on what to do.
They may also recognise the issue you have and two voices will be heard better than one.
Participants
Participants may be the first to recognise a issue regarding health and safety.
May be able to act as witnesses to support your statement to managers or HSE.
Participants will want to prevent themselves from getting harmed.
Support Staff
Whilst your attention is elsewhere, they may recognise a issue.
Can also act as a witness or support when highlighting issues to management or HSE.
They may offer their opinions or advice on what to do.

To explain why they are important
To explain how they support and maintain a healthy and safe sporting environment
