Animal Tissues
Animal tissues are broadly divided in to:
Epithelial tissues
thin,continuous layer or no intercellular spaces
outer surface of the body and lining of the internal organs
Squamous epithelium:
flat cells that line inside of the mouth, heart, blood vessels, oesophagus and air sacs of lungs
Cuboidal epithelium:
line the glands ducts and kidney tubules
Columnar epithelium:
elongated cylindrical cells that form inner lining of stomach, intestine, pharynx and larynx
Functions of epithelial tissues:
Secretion: glandular epithelial
A tissue is a group of cells of similar structure performing a common function.
