Allows students to feel safe
Makes students feel like they are free to share their thoughts and opinions
Creates a sense of belonging and importance within the students
Gives even the shyest students the confidence to share their ideas
Without Establishing Classroom Community:

Students feel afraid to share
Students feel judged by their answers
Students will not successfully work with their group
Ways to Create an Inviting Classroom:
Each teacher must decide for themselves what works best for their classroom based on age/subject
Strategies for Classroom Community:
At the beginning of the school year, take the time to learn about your students and let them learn about one another
