A Brief History
began in 2011, now in our 5th year
attendance has grown from 1200 to +3000
over 120 unique exhibitors (13 RSOs, 8 ISU departments, 5 ISU groups, 53 community partners, and 18 national partners)
sponsorship has grown from $3,200 to $8,300, allowing us to offer the event for FREE

pair teachers together (i.e. art and bio, math and music)
rely on student clubs/honors classes
local business PR groups/speaker programs
encourage vendors to provide their own
identify needs vs. wants
again: recruit, recruit, recruit!
businesses or social organizations
MOST IMPORTANTLY, remember these two things:
be prepared when volunteers do not show
DO NOT volunteer yourself!
School PTO or mini-grants
Local businesses with community grants
Target, Macy's, WalMart
Local Credit Unions are often more flexible with their giving than other businesses
In-Kind donations
newspaper/radio ads, prizes, hotel/transportation for guest speakers
Indiegogo, Kickstarter, Kiva
If you only plan to have 200 people, you probably can't afford that $10,000 guest speaker.
Spark! Festival:
Family Science Day is a public outreach event designed to educate and inspire K-8 students in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). This family-friendly event encourages scientific discovery through hands-on activities, challenges, and demonstrations while providing the opportunity to learn about scientific careers from actual research scientists and science educators.
