Jack Merridew:
An evil yet effective leader

Inability to kill the pig

"He capered toward Bill, and the mask was a thing of its own, behind which Jack hid, liberated from shame and self-consciousness."
Killing Simon
Conclusion:
Jack's inner darkness shows and breaks away from civilization (killing the pig,becoming the mask, then Simon)
However, Jack was a successful leader
Formed a tribe
He creates a sense of nationalism(Hitler)
The Election

"The circle of boys broke into applause. Even the choir applauded; and the freckles on Jack's face disappeared under a blush of mortification."
