Vocational
Qualification
is :

A competency
based qualification
It is based on the philosophy that almost all learners
can learn equally well if they receive the kinds of
instructions they need

Essential elements which guide the CBETA approach
1. The tasks to be taught are
identified by the experts in the
occupation and verified by
employers in the market place.

2. The programme allows each learner to have the opportunity to develop
and to be evaluated on the competencies achieved.

5. Students progress through the
programme by demonstrating the
attainment of specific competencies.
THE CBETA MODEL IS BASED ON A REGIONALLY ACCEPTED CVQ CERTIFICATION FRAMEWORK

What are Regional Occupational Standards (ROS)?

Regional Occupational Standards (ROS)

R.O.S. define the competencies required for effective workplace performance.

They are benched marked against international standards including those in the UK, Canada and Australia, and are produced in collaboration with industry experts and professionals.

CVQ level 1 award is job specific and allows an individual to attain the skills necessary for employment in a particular skill area ( e.g. Electrical Installation, Beauty Culture, Welding).

Individuals can earn as they learn

Encourages self employment.

ADVANTAGES OF CVQ

Individuals can easily access skilled jobs
in other regional territories through the

Caribbean Single Market and Economy
(CSME) agreement
, since the CVQ is
recognized throughout the region.
