old age
and gray
hairs, O God, do not forsake me, until I proclaim your might to another

power to all those to
come.” Ps 71:18
“O God,
we have
heard with our ears,
our fathers have told us,
what deeds you
performed in their
days.” -Ps 44:1
“We will tell the
next generation
the praiseworthy deeds
of the Lord, his power, and the wonders he has done.”
- Ps 78:5
“Let this be written
for a future generation,
that a people not yet
created may
praise the Lord”
-Ps 102:18
“One generation
will commend your
works to another;
they will tell of your
mighty acts.”
-Ps 145:3-4
"Ahaz was twenty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. And he did not do what was right in the eyes of the Lord, as his father David had done, but he walked in the ways of the kings of Israel." - 2 Chr 28:1-2
"Hezekiah began to reign when he was twenty-five years old... And he did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, according to all that David his father had done." - 2 Chr 29:1-2

receive?
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. - 2 Corinthians 12:9
85% of youth from Christian homes don't hold a biblical worldview
Most are incredibly inarticulate about their faith and its meaning in their lives (can't put basic beliefs into words)
84% of first-year Christian college students cannot intelligently defend or explain their beliefs

“Functional deists” — God exists, created the world, and set life in motion, but He is only involved personally to make their lives happier or to solve problems
3 out of 5 believe people can earn a place in heaven if they are generally good, or do enough good things for others

Only 9% say moral truth is unchanging; 76% believe it's situational. Only 31% said they turned to God or the Scriptures
Despite all they have, they are suffering from depression, anxiety and substance abuse more than ever
“Woe to those who
call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!” - Isaiah 5:20
How you see the world (“vision of life”)
Your presuppositions about reality and morality
Basic assumptions you take for granted
Do you view life through the lens of Scripture?
Do you filter choices through the Truth of the Bible?
Do you understand daily circumstances and world events according to God's Word?
Worldview
God's Word
"And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise."
“You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. They are from the world and therefore speak from the viewpoint of the world, and the world listens to them. We are from God, and whoever knows God listens to us; but whoever is not from God does not listen to us. This is how we recognize the Spirit of truth and the spirit of falsehood.” – 1 John 4:4-6
"Follow my example as I follow the example of Christ." - 1 Corinthians 11:1
"My son, give me your heart, and let your eyes observe my ways." - Proverbs 23:26
"Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. He will be like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers." (Psalm 1:1-3)
"Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose trust is the LORD. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit." (Jeremiah 17:7-8)
"Blessed is the man who
fears the LORD
, who greatly
delights in his commandments
!
His offspring will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed." - Psalm 112:1-2
Psalm 128
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of
knowledge
(Pr 1:7) and
wisdom
(Pr 9:10)
To fear the LORD is to
hate evil
(Pr 8:13) and it teaches a man
wisdom
(15:33; also "with humility comes wisdom" 11:2)
"Do not be wise in your own eyes;
fear the LORD
and
turn away from evil
." (Pr 3:7)
"He who fears the LORD has a
secure fortress
, and for his children it will be a
refuge
." (Pr 14:26)
"The people who know their God shall stand firm and take action" (Daniel 11:32)
Delight - Psalm 119:14,16,24,35,47,70,77,92,143,174

"Your commandment makes me wiser than my enemies" (Ps 119:98)
"The unfolding of your word gives light; it imparts understanding to the simple." (Ps 119:130)
Attitude towards sin/sinners: Psalm 119:53, 136, 139
"This is the one I esteem: he who is humble and contrite in heart, and trembles at my word." (Isaiah 66:2)
