Not everyone afford to buy organic food everyday Labor intensive are expensive to grow crops

Mid-size farms have big impact of labor expenses

Farmers need labor force to follow USDA certification process
not chemical fertilizers, insecticides and pesticides
to eliminate weeds before sowing
hand-picking

Spend 20% more on groceries for healthy foods
These choices consume 35-40% of low-income family's grocery budget

70% shoppers - price is a major barrier
Organic costs you 50% - 100 % more
If you see these labels,
you can be sure the product is at least 95% organic What is organic? organic certification avoidance of most synthetic chemical input
(fertilizer, pesticides, antibiotics, food additives), genetically modified
farmland has been free from synthetic chemicals for a number of years
(often, three or more)
keeping detailed written production and sales record
maintaining strict physical separation of organic products from non-certified products
