When different elements combine to become a compound, individual elements loose original properties

loose original properties
ex. Similarities: Elements make up molecules and compounds

Formulas represent molecules and compounds Composed of two or more different materials
They are physically combined
No chemical reaction occurs; retain original properties

Heterogeneous mixture: composition is not the same throughout; made of different substances. Individual properties are observable.
