What are the distinct characteristics of installation art?
Installation art is an artistic genre of three-dimensional works that are often site-specific and designed to transform the perception of a space.
In general, what do installation artists express in their works? Cite two examples from these Learner's Materials.
Incorporates a range of 2-D and 3-D materials to influence the way we EXPERIENCE or perceive a particular space. to make us rethink our lives and values. Some of the examples are the following: Cordillera Labyrinth and Four Masks.
Aside from the traditional mediums and materials, what new elements can installation artists incorporate in their work?
Everyday items and natural materials to new media such as video, sound, performances, and computer.
What are some unique ways that the viewer can get to ecperience a piece of installation art?
Sensory experience for the viewer.
What are different names for performance art?
Why is it called "installation"?
Generally, the term is applied to interior spaces, whereas exterior interventions are often called public art, land art or intervention art; however, the boundaries between these terms overlap.

The distinct qualities of this form of art is that there is a relationship between the performer and the audience in which the audience is often challenged by the performance artists to think new and conventional ways or ideas, interpret the performance art.
This form of art emerged in the decade from 1960’s to 1970’s.
The performers or artists serves as the medium in performance art by conducting a presentation to the audience whereby the meaning and interpretation is left to the audience to visualize and conceptualize the message.
Performance art could took place anywhere, in any venue or setting, in cultural theaters, galleries, museums.
