The Heist Society Books How She Became A Writer Intresting Facts About Her Career Her Writing Process The Outsiders by Susan Hinton made her want to be a writer.
Since then she always wanted to be a writer
She never actually took any writing classed in college.
She tried to write for adults but liked writing young adult fiction better. She got the idea for the Gallegher Girl series while watching the T.V. show A.L.I.A.S.
She chose the penname Ally Carter because Carter is close to Crusie.
When she first started writing she was screen writing. When she knows what she's writing she writes about 500 words in 30 minutes. Take a break. Come back. Repeat.
Some days aren't writing days, they are floor days.
She uses a technique called storyboarding.
She usually writes her first drafts on Alphasmart
Then she puts it on a laptop WITHOUT internet acess and rewrites it there.
When she gets stuck or she wants certain parts to sound really good she writes it long-hand.
She is more productive at night. Writer's Block She gets writers block all the time.
She thinks there are two types of writers block:
-The motivation block
-The everything seems wrong block
She says if you have type one means that you just have to keep writing untill you have gotten over it.
She says if you have type two you have to fix it, and then you writers block will be fixed too. Her Personal Life Her Childhood She was born on Jan 1st, 1974
Her birthname is Sarah Leigh Fogleman.
She grew up on a small family farm in Oklahoma.
Her Mom was a teacher, her Dad was a farmer and rancher, and she had an older sister.
She used to love the Smurfs.
Her favorite book was and still is To Kill A Mockingbird.
She was the Co-Valedictorian of her senior class. Ally Carter Now She now lives in the midwest.
She is a Graduate of Oklahoma State University and Cornell University.
Her favorite quote is by (she thinks) F. Scott Fitsgerald: "Great books write themselves, only bad books have to be written." (or somthing like that, she says)
She calles herself a T.V. junkie and she loves movies.
Her biggest piece of advice to girls today is to wear sunscreen.
Her favorite type of hamburger is one with mustard, mayo, lettuce, pickles, and swiss cheese. Ally's Books Ally in Her Books Ally says that you can see her personality in all her charecters, but she says she is also most like Cammie.
She is most like Cammie "The Chamelion" because she would much rather not be noticed.
Cammie spends her summers on a farm, and Ally grew up on a farm, wich is another similatity between them.
Her family is very supportive, and that helped shape some of the sisterhood in the books. Cammie is keeping secrets
