Mhm Right.
00:25 - 00:27
Hi, this is joe Mikola from grow up sales.
00:28 - 00:30
Thank you for watching this flash session.
00:30 - 00:33
I'm thrilled to again be speaking at the I.
00:33 - 00:36
B. S annual conference this year, but I'm super thrilled
00:37 - 00:39
to not only be speaking on behalf of my company
00:39 - 00:43
grow up sales, but also on behalf of bank talent.
00:43 - 00:48
HQ. Bank Talent HQ is the ideas Talent Management initiative,
00:49 - 00:54
a fantastic online platform that enables you to attract and
00:55 - 00:59
hire new talent for your bank, but also to help
00:59 - 01:03
you develop and retain that talent at your bank.
01:04 - 01:07
You see as a bank leader for over 25 years.
01:07 - 01:10
I know that one of the biggest challenges you face
01:10 - 01:15
is how to attract, retain and develop quality talent within
01:15 - 01:16
your organization.
01:17 - 01:20
You see without this talent you can't grow now of
01:20 - 01:24
course it's really simple to pay more money, create new
01:24 - 01:25
jobs, promote more people.
01:27 - 01:31
But there's one better way, One super important way that
01:31 - 01:35
can help you become the best place to work the
01:35 - 01:37
best bank to work for in our industry.
01:45 - 02:01
Yeah. Create a winning culture that inspires success.
02:02 - 02:06
Not only success for your bank but certainly success for
02:06 - 02:07
your staff.
02:07 - 02:11
Whether it's career goals or personal success, if you want
02:12 - 02:14
to become the best place to work, it's not about
02:28 - 02:31
create a winning culture that inspires success.
02:32 - 02:33
You see if you want to be the best place
02:34 - 02:38
to work then it's critical that you start by reflecting
02:38 - 02:41
on your culture and building a culture that enables people
02:42 - 02:51
to achieve their cree and personal goals, banning company, which
02:52 - 02:54
is one of the biggest research companies or management consulting
02:54 - 02:58
companies in the world conducted some global research and 81%
03:00 - 03:03
of executives and the majority of those executives being bank
03:03 - 03:07
executives agreed that a company without a winning culture is
03:07 - 03:07
doomed to mediocrity.
03:08 - 03:11
You see nobody wants to work for mediocre company or
03:11 - 03:12
a mediocre bank.
03:13 - 03:16
They want to work for a company that's winning, that's
03:16 - 03:18
successful. And it all starts with your culture.
03:21 - 03:23
Peter Drucker, who is one of my favorite management consultants
03:24 - 03:24
all the time.
03:24 - 03:26
He was one of the first people to say that
03:26 - 03:30
the most important asset in your company is your people,
03:31 - 03:33
not your products, not your processes, but your people.
03:34 - 03:37
It sounds so obvious today, but what are we doing
03:37 - 03:40
to ensure that our people feel like they're the most
03:40 - 03:41
important people in our company.
03:42 - 03:46
And as Peter Drucker says, culture, each strategy for breakfast,
03:46 - 03:49
you can have the best strategy for growth, but without
03:49 - 03:52
creating an environment for people to succeed, you won't be
03:53 - 03:54
able to deliver on that strategy.
03:56 - 03:59
You see as bank leaders is important that your leadership
04:00 - 04:04
and the environment that you create motivates excellence.
04:05 - 04:07
Your people come to work every day and they make
04:07 - 04:11
a conscious decision every day as to how much time
04:11 - 04:15
they're going to commit to helping your bank grow, to
04:15 - 04:19
helping them achieve their own goals, whether they be career
04:20 - 04:22
goals, bank goals or personal goals.
04:23 - 04:28
And that conscious effort is influenced by your leadership and
04:28 - 04:30
the environment in which they operate.
04:31 - 04:32
And so what I want to do now is I
04:32 - 04:36
want to introduce you to my leadership excellence model, a
04:37 - 04:40
simple model that's been designed to help you create a
04:40 - 04:46
culture, a culture that fosters and inspires success, a winning
04:46 - 04:50
culture that enables everybody to achieve their goals, a winning
04:50 - 04:53
culture that people want to work for, a winning culture
04:54 - 04:57
that your current staff will tell others about.
04:58 - 05:04
And so my leadership excellence model Includes these 4Cs and
05:04 - 05:06
four assesses clarity strategy.
05:20 - 05:24
This simple leadership excellence model has been designed to help
05:25 - 05:29
you create a winning culture, a culture that inspires success,
05:29 - 05:33
a culture that attracts new talent and certainly a culture
05:34 - 05:36
that makes people want to stay at your organization.
05:37 - 05:37
And it's quite simple.
05:38 - 05:43
The 4Cs, a clarity, confidence, consistency and culture.
05:43 - 05:48
In fact clarity plus confidence, plus consistency equals culture.
05:49 - 05:53
The four s is a strategy, skills structure and support
05:54 - 05:55
what I'm gonna do of.
05:56 - 05:59
The remainder of this presentation is expand upon these four
05:59 - 06:02
elements to help you create a winning culture that will
06:02 - 06:04
make you the best place to work.
06:27 - 06:30
The first see in the leadership excellence model to help
06:30 - 06:32
you create a great culture, is clarity?
06:34 - 06:43
How are you performing in relation on Uh huh.
07:01 - 07:04
The first, see in my leadership excellence model is clarity.
07:06 - 07:08
So what are you doing as a leader to ensure
07:09 - 07:13
that your team has clarity, clarity on what they need
07:13 - 07:19
to do clarity on your support, clarity on goal achievement.
07:20 - 07:22
So why is clarity so important?
07:23 - 07:26
Well, there's a number of reasons why clarity and strategy
07:27 - 07:30
are critical to helping you create a winning culture, clarity
07:31 - 07:33
helps us avoid chaos.
07:34 - 07:38
It gives your staff direction, it removes any confusion they
07:38 - 07:41
have about what they're required to do.
07:42 - 07:45
It maintains harmony across all departments.
07:45 - 07:48
I know there's a lot of challenges we have in
07:48 - 07:49
getting our departments to work together.
07:50 - 07:53
What clarity as leaders are we providing everybody to ensure
07:54 - 07:57
that confusion and that confusion doesn't happen.
07:58 - 08:02
And that harmony is achieved, clarity enables all of us
08:02 - 08:04
to capitalize on all the wonderful opportunities in our local
08:04 - 08:10
markets, provides focus, it helps everybody understand what motivates them,
08:12 - 08:14
not only as individuals, but also as leaders.
08:15 - 08:16
That's the key here.
08:17 - 08:20
It helps you achieve goals and it creates happening happiness.
08:21 - 08:26
And that is ultimately why we're trying to create a
08:26 - 08:30
winning culture that everybody can feel happy at work, that
08:30 - 08:33
everybody can feel like they can achieve their goals.
08:36 - 08:40
So have you taken the time to think about this
08:40 - 08:41
whole thing is a disaster?
08:46 - 08:49
So the first see in helping you create a winning
08:49 - 08:51
culture at your bank and becoming the best place to
08:51 - 08:52
work is clarity.
08:55 - 08:59
As leaders, we are responsible for not only providing clarity
08:59 - 09:03
to our staff, but also gaining clarity on what's important
09:04 - 09:04
to them.
09:05 - 09:06
So why do we need it?
09:06 - 09:08
Why do we need to become better at clarity?
09:10 - 09:15
You see clarity and strategy helps us avoid chaos.
09:16 - 09:20
It gives our team direction, it removes the confusion, any
09:20 - 09:23
confusion they have about what they're required to do to
09:24 - 09:26
help the bank grow, but also to achieve their personal
09:27 - 09:31
goals by providing clarity, re maintain harmony across all departments.
09:32 - 09:35
And we ensure that we're capitalizing on all these great
09:35 - 09:37
opportunities in our local market.
09:38 - 09:41
It provides focus, everybody is clear on what they need
09:41 - 09:43
to do and what they need to focus on in
09:44 - 09:44
order to grow.
09:44 - 09:47
They grow the bank and achieve their goals.
09:48 - 09:49
Clarity helps you.
09:50 - 09:51
As a leader, understand motivation.
09:53 - 09:56
Are you clear about what motivates your staff?
09:56 - 09:58
Are you clear about their personal goals?
09:58 - 10:01
I'm going to touch on, I'm gonna expand upon that
10:01 - 10:05
in a moment, clarity helps us all achieve our goals.
10:05 - 10:12
And ultimately, by providing greater clarity and understanding clarity, you
10:12 - 10:16
create happiness and ultimately, that's what creates a winning environment,
10:17 - 10:20
a winning culture when people feel happy to come to
10:20 - 10:24
work, when they're feeling happy about what they're achieving every
10:24 - 10:30
day. So as bank leaders, one of the things I
10:30 - 10:32
want you to think about as you after this presentation
10:33 - 10:36
or when you're back at your branch is what requires
10:37 - 10:37
greater clarity.
10:38 - 10:39
What requires clarity?
10:40 - 10:43
What do you need to provide clarity on and what
10:43 - 10:44
clarity do you need to obtain?
10:45 - 10:48
How can you as a leader be better at providing
10:49 - 10:53
and gaining more clarity to help you create this winning
10:54 - 11:00
culture? You see for me, the most important thing that
11:00 - 11:03
you need to gain clarity on is what makes your
11:03 - 11:04
staff happy.
11:05 - 11:09
Here's six images that I've shared with my team over
11:09 - 11:13
my 25 year career, of course, my team will have
11:13 - 11:16
bank goals, goals that they need to achieve it in
11:16 - 11:18
a year, whether their loan targets or deposit targets.
11:19 - 11:21
But I want to understand their personal goals.
11:22 - 11:23
Why do they come to work every day?
11:24 - 11:25
Why are they working for our organization?
11:27 - 11:30
What makes them happy now?
11:30 - 11:32
Of course, people are gonna say their family or vacations.
11:33 - 11:36
But it's really important that as a leader, you gain
11:37 - 11:40
clarity on what makes your team happy because the clearer
11:40 - 11:43
you are about their goals, the easier it's going to
11:43 - 11:46
be for you to help them achieve those goals and
11:46 - 11:48
if you help them achieve those goals then of course
11:49 - 11:51
you're creating a winning culture.
11:51 - 11:55
Everybody wants to work for a company, a bank or
11:55 - 11:58
work in an environment that helps them achieve their goals,
11:58 - 11:59
that helps them achieve happiness.
12:01 - 12:03
You see, Simon Sinek is one of my favorite motivational
12:04 - 12:07
speakers, says working hard for something we don't care about
12:07 - 12:08
is called stress.
12:09 - 12:12
Working hard for something we love is called passion.
12:14 - 12:17
So how are you helping your team achieve their passionate
12:17 - 12:21
goals? Now here's one way that you can do that
12:22 - 12:26
collaborate, collaborate with your team on developing your strategy for
12:26 - 12:30
success. Now in banking traditionally a lot of our strategy
12:31 - 12:34
is top down, we let our staff know what our
12:34 - 12:38
strategic priorities are and encourage them to help achieve those.
12:39 - 12:42
We give them suggestions on actions that they can do
12:42 - 12:44
to achieve those goals.
12:44 - 12:48
But what's more important is if you collaborate with your
12:48 - 12:51
team and create a bottom up strategy and here's this
12:51 - 12:54
very very simple approach that I've used over the years
12:54 - 12:58
every year to collaborate with my team, my banking stuff
12:59 - 13:01
to create a great growth strategy.
13:03 - 13:06
See instead of me dictating what the strategy is, I
13:06 - 13:09
gather my team G G R E A T.
13:09 - 13:11
This is my acronym for a great growth Strategy.
13:11 - 13:14
I gather my team for a collaborative planning session.
13:14 - 13:18
We reflect on our swat and our past performances together
13:19 - 13:19
as a team.
13:20 - 13:23
We explore our why what and how why do we
13:23 - 13:24
come to work every day?
13:24 - 13:27
What motivates us and how how are we going to
13:28 - 13:30
achieve our personal goals and our bank goals?
13:32 - 13:34
We agree on an activity plan.
13:34 - 13:37
I'm gonna I'm gonna expand upon that activity plan shortly.
13:37 - 13:40
We agree on an activity plan and challenge any limiting
13:41 - 13:44
beliefs we may have about achieving our goals this year.
13:45 - 13:50
And finally, t in the great growth strategy, review the
13:50 - 13:52
T. Represents, taking action.
13:52 - 13:56
We execute the strategy and review our process.
13:56 - 13:57
We review our performance.
13:59 - 14:01
Very simple way to gain more clarity.
14:02 - 14:04
Now, what are you doing for the next?
14:05 - 14:20
See confidence.
14:21 - 14:26
You see it's wonderful that you have now provided more
14:26 - 14:28
clarity and gain more clarity around your goals.
14:29 - 14:32
Around the bank's goals, Your start skulls and also the
14:32 - 14:34
strategy that you're going to implement to achieve those goals.
14:35 - 14:38
But how confident is everybody in achieving those goals?
14:39 - 14:44
Why is confidence so important in helping us create a
14:44 - 14:45
winning culture?
14:48 - 14:52
You see without confidence, your team aren't going to be
14:52 - 14:56
resilient when when faced with adversity, When faced with difficulty
14:57 - 14:59
when struggling to achieve their goals And, gosh!
