  1. What's up, guys?
  2. I thought would be fun today to to take a
  3. look at some skills data, particularly when hiring manager comes
  4. to you and you're trying to fill some particular wreck
  5. has a number of skills associated with it.
  6. And how particular skills can really throw off your ability
  7. to hire efficiently if you don't have the proper insights
  8. going into it.
  9. Um, I'm gonna take Amazon Web AWS here and kind
  10. of dive into it.
  11. So, uh, you know, just kind of doing a market
  12. temperature check.
  13. Here we are trying to hire the scenario Is a
  14. dot net developer in Boston.
  15. Okay, so if we just take, you know, the software
  16. engineers who you know dot net framework is part of
  17. their skill set.
  18. This is what the overall feel of the market looks
  19. like. You can see here.
  20. There is, you know, a greater amount of candidates in
  21. this market, but it also costs more, and competition is
  22. also higher.
  23. Right? So this is going to be a tricky, uh,
  24. Boston is going to be tricky spot to find this
  25. talent, it's going to be very competitive.
  26. So, um, you know, kind of at first blush.
  27. Something that I always coach our customers in doing is
  28. to look at the particular skills of that wreck and
  29. start to identify which ones are the nice to haves.
  30. And which ones are the, uh, the need to have
  31. so combing through this list we're looking at what a
  32. typical dot net developer in Boston looks like, and a
  33. couple of things that stand out to me is Microsoft.
  34. Azure and AWS are both skill sets that are difficult
  35. to source, meaning that there are more companies asking for
  36. them significantly more than there are individuals who have the
  37. skill sets.
  38. So these are going to be in demand skills.
  39. These are going to be ones that are difficult to
  40. source. So, uh, the the reality behind that means that
  41. you're going to have to change the way you higher
  42. compensation as well is going to play a part in
  43. your ability to hire.
  44. If you're looking to just hire a dot net developer
  45. and you think, oh well, we'll tack on AWS are
  46. hiring. Manager asked for that.
  47. No big deal.
  48. What actually is a big deal when it comes to
  49. compensation. So take a look so This is what the
  50. base compensation looks like for a dot net developer in
  51. Boston. So you can see we're roughly around that 110
  52. mark for the median.
  53. Now, if we add if we want to look at
  54. these dot net developers who also have a W s,
  55. you can see that that price increases by $16,000.
  56. So the the skill that that hiring hiring manager is
  57. requesting a W S, this is something they want along
  58. with their their dot net framework capabilities.
  59. It's going to cost you 16 k.
  60. And if you don't know that going in, you're going
  61. to spend weeks and weeks looking for this talent and
  62. and no one really applying to that, uh, you know,
  63. and another thing I thought was fascinating.
  64. If we look at the the advertised wage trend for
  65. these dot net developers with AWS, you can really see
  66. that over the last three years, there has been a
  67. 12.5% increase in the compensation that that companies are putting
  68. on their job description so we can see here.
  69. This is obviously in demand and a growing growing need.
  70. So if you are going to source it beware.
  71. You know, not all skills are created equal, and not
  72. all requests are equal from your hiring manager.
  73. Compensation is going to vary.
  74. So anyway, thought this might be helpful for some of
  75. you who are out there looking to source of these
  76. difficult to find skills.
  77. Happy to help be a resource for you all.
  78. Thanks.
