00:01 - 00:01
Hi, everyone.
00:02 - 00:03
I hope you're all doing fine.
00:04 - 00:05
So let's get started.
00:06 - 00:09
Now. I want to welcome you to First aid and
00:09 - 00:10
nutrition with the Avenues program.
00:11 - 00:13
If you don't know who I am already, I'm sure
00:13 - 00:16
Nika Grandison I am the program manager for the program
00:17 - 00:20
and we're here to continue our studies as we did
00:20 - 00:22
in our day service's program.
00:23 - 00:25
So the first thing that I would like to talk
00:26 - 00:29
about is exactly what are we gonna learn?
00:29 - 00:32
So in first and nutrition, we're gonna be covering first
00:34 - 00:34
the sample method.
00:35 - 00:39
In addition to reviewing some previous lessons, we don't want
00:39 - 00:41
you guys to forget everything that we have taught you.
00:42 - 00:44
So we're going to be doing some review that's going
00:45 - 00:46
to be a length your video leader.
00:47 - 00:49
But right now, we're also going to be talking about
00:49 - 00:53
the sample method or, in other words, the method used
00:54 - 00:57
in order to get information on someone who is injured.
00:58 - 01:00
In addition to that, we're going to talk about how
01:00 - 01:04
do you approach someone who has a sudden illness such
01:05 - 01:09
as respiratory distress, for example, somebody with as maps also,
01:10 - 01:14
somebody has allergic reaction, maybe even a diabetic emergency.
01:15 - 01:18
Then Once we cover all those sections, we're going to
01:18 - 01:18
do a review.
01:20 - 01:23
So the next thing that we're also going to talk
01:23 - 01:26
about is nutrition and in nutrition.
01:26 - 01:28
We need to learn things.
01:29 - 01:29
Such as what?
01:30 - 01:35
Our vitamins, What are minerals, water, calories, what should we
01:35 - 01:37
be eating and how much we should be eating and
01:37 - 01:40
why it's so important to understand nutrition.
01:41 - 01:43
It's important so that we can keep our bodies healthy
01:44 - 01:45
and our minds clear.
01:46 - 01:49
And when we eat healthy and when we do what
01:49 - 01:52
we're supposed to do, including exercise, we live a long
01:53 - 01:55
and great life and you could do so many more
01:55 - 01:58
opportunities. But we don't think about our nutrition.
01:59 - 02:03
Sometimes that can lead to us not being able to
02:03 - 02:05
do all the tools we want to do because we're
02:05 - 02:07
not healthy enough to do it.
02:07 - 02:08
But we don't want that.
02:08 - 02:12
So that's why we're education, you on nutrition and first
02:13 - 02:15
aid. So the next thing that I want to go
02:15 - 02:18
over is the fact that we'll be using Google Classroom.
02:19 - 02:21
I'm really excited about this.
02:22 - 02:25
Using Google classes, a grade platform for you to receive
02:26 - 02:30
all the class information on Google Platform, I will have
02:30 - 02:31
all the P D.
02:31 - 02:34
Efs all the videos that she'll need, including maybe a
02:34 - 02:37
couple of games and yes, on occasional quiz or two.
02:38 - 02:39
Don't worry, the quizzes aren't hard.
02:40 - 02:42
I just want to make sure you remember the information.
02:42 - 02:46
And I don't mind if you x mom, dad, sister,
02:46 - 02:48
cousin, auntie for any kind of help that's needed.
02:49 - 02:51
So the next thing you want to know is that
02:51 - 02:55
if you have any questions in regards to the material
02:57 - 02:59
or what's going on, go ahead and use that Google
03:00 - 03:03
platform. So ah, part of Google Platform is a section
03:04 - 03:07
where you and I can converse whatever questions you have,
03:07 - 03:09
whether you have questions and maybe Mom and Dad or
03:10 - 03:11
whoever else less questions.
03:11 - 03:16
And we can address that there, and any responses that
03:16 - 03:18
are there can be put onto Google platform.
03:19 - 03:21
And if I feel as if maybe we're all not
03:21 - 03:23
understanding it, I will go ahead and make a clarification
03:24 - 03:28
video. The great thing about Google platform as well is
03:28 - 03:32
that not only will I have information for you guys
03:32 - 03:36
before your parents as well parents, if you're watching this
03:36 - 03:39
video is very important to know that in addition to
03:39 - 03:42
their material, there's going to be a parental checklist, and
03:42 - 03:46
essentially, that checklist will be used to see if they
03:46 - 03:51
understand the material practically, for example, with first aid.
03:51 - 03:55
If we're talking about someone who was injured and they
03:55 - 03:59
have to use the sample method in order to get
03:59 - 04:03
information from them, you can roll, play the situation and
04:03 - 04:07
help coach your son or daughter as to how it
04:07 - 04:09
was supposed to go and make it fun.
04:10 - 04:13
We're using this time now to we should be using
04:13 - 04:16
this time now to get to have fun with friends
04:16 - 04:18
and family and those who are close to us.
04:19 - 04:21
So this is a way for you to see if
04:21 - 04:25
they can understand the practical applications of first date, coach
04:25 - 04:28
them on the practical applications of first aid and have
04:28 - 04:31
a really conversation that if something were to happen to
04:31 - 04:34
you or someone in the house, would they know what
04:34 - 04:35
to do and it's not.
04:35 - 04:35
It's okay.
04:36 - 04:37
We have time to learn.
04:38 - 04:40
This is our opportunity to coach them on what you
04:40 - 04:41
would like them to.
04:41 - 04:46
D'oh! So now here's a couple things that I don't
04:47 - 04:47
want you to forget.
04:48 - 04:51
Okay, Don't forget to wash the introduction video of the
04:51 - 04:54
week, which means there's a whole video that's gonna explain
04:55 - 04:57
everything that's going on, the weak and the things You
04:57 - 05:01
have to really pay attention to watch the lessons, video
05:01 - 05:05
lessons. So after this video, there's a video lesson, and
05:05 - 05:09
pretty much is the lecture part of, um, this classroom
05:09 - 05:14
experience. Read them extra material and wash supplemental videos so
05:14 - 05:18
that your child or student or you can have a
05:18 - 05:22
great understanding of what's going on in the classroom and
05:23 - 05:24
then the middle, you know, the little mini quiz.
05:25 - 05:29
So for with parent assistance, remember that I'll be doing
05:29 - 05:32
some video conferencing with you on Wednesdays and Fridays.
05:33 - 05:36
I'll also call to arrange those times for those video
05:36 - 05:40
conferences. Now, Right now, we're looking to see if, um,
05:40 - 05:45
WhatsApp zoom off Face Time is available with for everyone,
05:45 - 05:48
and we're just going to use whatever works best for
05:48 - 05:53
you. Also, I want you expect Michelle Michelle Koval, who's
05:53 - 05:57
assistant director toe, also be doing some checking in on
05:57 - 06:00
you and seeing how everyone and how the avenues crew
06:01 - 06:04
is doing so Now that I have explained all of
06:04 - 06:06
that, let's get started
