  1. good morning.
  2. So this is my well, it's 6 21 digital poetry
  3. assignment. A.
  4. Um, I wanted to give you some background about the
  5. poem before I began.
  6. So the title of the poem is called Mastering the
  7. Mandate. And in my classroom, the Montagne Oh, mandate is
  8. a list of five expectations that I have for every
  9. class, every student.
  10. Mm, anything that goes beyond those five expectations the students
  11. really set up themselves through social contracts.
  12. I'm I do spend a lot of time doing this.
  13. It's, uh I have never had an issue with classroom
  14. management, um, in my room, and I really feel like
  15. this is a big part of it.
  16. So when we give awards, when we give awards every
  17. month when we give awards, the title of my award
  18. is called The Master of the Mandate.
  19. And a student does not have to have an A
  20. or be or even a passing grade necessarily to get
  21. this award if they are meeting the expectations of the
  22. mandate, which are really like strongly tied to social emotional
  23. learning skills.
  24. Um, if they're meeting those expectations than there a definite
  25. candidate for the award and I kind of think that's
  26. kind of what sets, um, this award out from others
  27. in particular in the class.
  28. I know it's supposed to be for academic achievement, but
  29. they are achieving, even if they're not making necessarily the
  30. grade. So anyway, that's what the mandate is.
  31. The Montana mandate.
  32. So here we go master the mandate mastering the mandate.
  33. Do you have what it takes to master the mandate?
  34. Many think they dio.
  35. What about you?
  36. You see, my rules are rules, but expectations?

  39. What do I expect?
  40. I expect you do understand that I understand that you
  41. all are tired of the don'ts.

  44. You'll hear enough in a day.
  45. What? Not to D'oh.
  46. Now let me tell you, being perfectly playing what I
  47. expect from you, I expect you to treat your peers
  48. like they're your brothers and your sisters.
  49. No, you may not give them a wedgie.
  50. And no, you may not show them in a closet,
  51. but rather when they need those words of encouragement and
  52. when they need that hand up, I expect you to
  53. be the first to offer it.
  54. Can you master the mandate?
  55. I expect nothing less than your very best.
  56. Yes, you heard me.
  57. Your very best every day.
  58. No, this is not a test.
  59. No, not a test.
  60. Because your best to me, you see, is not 100%
  61. in a pluses and everything that you do.
  62. It doesn't mean that you're happy all the time.
  63. And it doesn't mean that you must be perfect.
  64. Can you master the mandate?
  65. Because you see, expecting nothing but 100% in a pluses
  66. Set you up for frustration.
  67. Expecting happy, happy joy joy attitudes sets us both up
  68. for disappointment and expecting perfection Said you up to fail.
  69. I'm your teacher.
  70. That's not why I'm here.
  71. And I'll tell you this true is the day is
  72. long. I'll take a hard earn See over an easy
