00:21 - 00:25
Now, please make sure to go to the tutorials that
00:25 - 00:28
can help you with the discussion questions, further practice and
00:28 - 00:30
challenging questions in the additional resources.
00:31 - 00:32
You can find the slide that I used for my
00:32 - 00:36
video and in the lesson for more information, of course,
00:37 - 00:39
and you will find the pages aligned in the book
00:39 - 00:39
for this lesson.
00:40 - 00:42
So let's start off together now.
00:43 - 00:46
We have the traditional gender stereotypes for feminine.
00:46 - 00:53
Usually they describe, you know, women as non aggressive, dependent,
00:54 - 00:59
easily influenced, submissive, passive, home oriented, talkative and decisive.
01:00 - 01:04
Um, easily hurt, emotional sensitive, you know, cries a lot
01:05 - 01:06
kind, tearful and nurturing.
01:06 - 01:07
We've heard that a lot.
01:07 - 01:11
And as for masculine, which is males aggressive, independent, dominant,
01:12 - 01:18
active, not easily hurt, emotionally decisive, tough, um, less sensitive
01:19 - 01:22
rarely cries logical, analytical, cruel, blunt and not nurturing.
01:23 - 01:24
But that's not always the case.
01:25 - 01:28
That's just generalizing them, and that's what we call stereotypes.
01:28 - 01:31
In 19 nineties women stayed at the house.
01:32 - 01:34
Their main rules were to take care of Children clean
01:34 - 01:37
The house have been ready for for when their husbands
01:38 - 01:39
come back from work.
01:39 - 01:40
That was their job.
01:43 - 01:46
Feminists of the 19 sixties in the 1964 Civil Rights
01:47 - 01:48
Act passed, which prohibited gender discrimination.
01:50 - 01:52
The National Organization for Women and the Equal Employment Opportunity
01:53 - 01:57
Commission helped women seek legal aid to fight discrimination within
01:57 - 01:57
the workplace.
01:58 - 02:01
This was known as Women's Liberation Movement.
02:04 - 02:04
General Rules.
02:05 - 02:07
Today, women can be more independent and don't have to
02:07 - 02:08
rely on men.
02:09 - 02:10
And we've seen that position.
02:11 - 02:14
Women should have the same opportunities as men but should
02:14 - 02:16
not be ridiculed if they want to stay at home
02:17 - 02:17
as well.
02:17 - 02:20
So it's their choice to be a stay at home
02:20 - 02:24
mom or, uh, a mom that is, you know, independent
02:25 - 02:27
and goes to a workplace, and she can be both
02:28 - 02:28
at the same time.
02:28 - 02:30
She can take care of her kids and go to
02:30 - 02:30
a job.
02:32 - 02:34
Also, the men should not be ridiculed if they choose
02:35 - 02:36
to stay at home until they find a job.
02:37 - 02:40
Opposing side women who stay at home are just feeding
02:40 - 02:42
the cycle and making it harder for women to strive.
02:43 - 02:45
Women are supposed to stay at home and clean, and
02:45 - 02:47
the man is supposed to support the family.
02:47 - 02:49
So see, it's always a controversial issue.
02:52 - 02:54
Best perspective, functional ists.
02:54 - 02:56
There needs to be gender equality and non one gender
02:57 - 02:57
over the other.
02:57 - 03:04
Functional IST sees both genders creating an organized society and
03:05 - 03:05
traditionalist perspective.
03:06 - 03:08
Men prefer women to be submissive and less able.
03:09 - 03:11
The roles are specifically designed to bring out the best
03:11 - 03:12
qualities of each individual.
03:13 - 03:16
They both need to be successful on their own conflict
03:17 - 03:20
perspective. Society shows that men are above women, constant battle
03:21 - 03:23
of who's smarter or stronger, and this is always going
03:23 - 03:25
to be a controversial issue.
03:26 - 03:28
So, everybody, we have reached the end of our video
03:28 - 03:28
for today.
03:29 - 03:31
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask or
03:31 - 03:32
send me a message through the U.
03:33 - 03:34
C. Have a lovely day and thanks for listening
