00:00 - 00:05
Yeah, good afternoon everyone peace be with you.
00:09 - 00:11
This week we're thinking about the Holy trinity.
00:12 - 00:14
So last week we did work on thinking about Pentecost
00:15 - 00:17
and the Holy Spirit on the board.
00:17 - 00:19
At the moment, I have given you an image which
00:19 - 00:23
represents the three different parts of the holy trinity, pause
00:24 - 00:26
this video and see in your class, if you can
00:27 - 00:29
remember some of the symbols that we remember from the
00:29 - 00:33
trinity and which of the three different parts there are
00:33 - 00:33
off you go.
00:39 - 00:43
Mm So hopefully you came up with God the father,
00:44 - 00:46
the one who cares for us and loves us like
00:46 - 00:49
a good father being a creator and sustainer of the
00:49 - 00:51
world, which you can see on the right hand side
00:51 - 00:53
of the picture there, God the Sun, which is jesus,
00:54 - 00:55
the one who was sent to earth as human being
00:56 - 00:57
in order to save humanity from itself.
00:58 - 01:00
He is both fully God and fully human and an
01:00 - 01:03
example of how we can be or how we can
01:03 - 01:06
try to be on Earth and then God the Holy
01:06 - 01:10
Spirit, which is the Holy Spirit sent down part of
01:10 - 01:13
God to guide us and look after us and help
01:13 - 01:15
us make those tricky choices as we go through our
01:15 - 01:18
lives. We'll learn more about those three parts of the
01:18 - 01:21
Holy trinity later in the week in our moly worship.
01:21 - 01:23
But right now I want to tell you a story
01:24 - 01:27
of a boy who used to live in Lebanon and
01:27 - 01:29
he became a great artist.
01:30 - 01:32
And I've put on the screen now for you a
01:32 - 01:35
couple of his different pictures, a couple of pieces of
01:35 - 01:37
artwork. And as I read this story, take a look
01:38 - 01:40
at those pictures and see if you can spot some
01:40 - 01:42
of the scenes that I described once.
01:43 - 01:44
There was a boy who grew up in a country
01:45 - 01:46
that was suffering from a terrible war.
01:47 - 01:49
Many of his family and friends fought in the war,
01:50 - 01:52
sadly some of them died.
01:53 - 01:55
He had grown up in a fishing village that before
01:55 - 01:57
the war was a wonderful place to be.
01:58 - 02:00
He remembered when he was very small, going down to
02:00 - 02:03
the harbor each day to watch the small boats come
02:03 - 02:04
back from their early morning fishing trips.
02:05 - 02:08
Sometimes the nets seemed to be so full of fish
02:09 - 02:13
that he was worried the boats would overturn, The fishermen
02:13 - 02:15
would tease him and say quickly, come and help us.
02:16 - 02:17
We need someone strong and brave.
02:18 - 02:19
We can't hold the fish in ourselves and we'll lose
02:20 - 02:22
all of the catch if you don't help catching hold
02:22 - 02:25
of the rope, he was heaved with the men until
02:26 - 02:27
they were safely into the harbor.
02:28 - 02:31
He remembered the sights and smells the noise of the
02:31 - 02:34
small engines, the slipperiness of the nets, some of them
02:34 - 02:38
made by his father's grandfather, but most of all he
02:38 - 02:40
remembered the laughter as he grew older.
02:41 - 02:42
When the fighting was at its worst.
02:43 - 02:46
He would remember those days and run down to the
02:46 - 02:50
harbor. Then there weren't the fishermen to go out and
02:50 - 02:50
catch the fish.
02:51 - 02:54
He would hide an upturned boat which had been abandoned,
02:55 - 02:57
and he could still smell the fish, feel the weight
02:57 - 03:00
of the nets and hear the distant laughter in his
03:00 - 03:02
heart. He could not give up hope.
03:03 - 03:05
He prayed to God every day for peace to return
03:05 - 03:07
to his country and the village where he lived.
03:09 - 03:11
As he crouched under the boat, he could see in
03:12 - 03:13
the distance the smoke from the fires in the city
03:14 - 03:16
burning as a result of the bomb attacks.
03:17 - 03:20
The skies were darkened and heavy, the clouds seemed thick
03:20 - 03:20
with sorrow.
03:21 - 03:24
As he prayed, he suddenly saw a shaft of light
03:25 - 03:25
breaking through the clouds.
03:26 - 03:29
The sun pierced the darkness and stretched down and down
03:29 - 03:30
to the boats around him.
03:31 - 03:34
It looks like a triangle, a bright triangle of light
03:34 - 03:36
sending the gloom and horror of the war.
03:37 - 03:41
Far, far away as the light reached the harbor, it's
03:41 - 03:44
solid, flat base settled on two of the boats, long
03:44 - 03:45
silence and tethered.
03:46 - 03:49
He remembered now the stories of jesus, how he had
03:49 - 03:52
brought hope to the people, people like those in his
03:52 - 03:54
village who are suffering in fear and pain.
03:55 - 03:57
He knew from that moment he would never give up
03:58 - 03:59
hope because God would be with him.
04:00 - 04:03
God would be with him in the stories of jesus
04:03 - 04:06
making him strong and brave, just like the fishermen from
04:06 - 04:08
the village he called him to be.
04:10 - 04:13
As he watched the strong triangle of light, the darkness
04:13 - 04:15
of war seemed to be easier to bear.
04:15 - 04:18
He followed the light back up towards Heaven, sending up
04:18 - 04:20
a prayer that the Holy Spirit would show him how
04:21 - 04:22
to share these feelings of hope.
04:23 - 04:25
He knew what he had to do quickly.
04:26 - 04:29
He ran home, his heart beating not with fear of
04:29 - 04:32
war, as it had done so many times, but with
04:32 - 04:33
excitement of the knowledge he carried.
04:34 - 04:37
He took out paper and pencils he drew as if
04:38 - 04:39
all depended on it.
04:40 - 04:42
He had to recreate on paper the hope he had
04:42 - 04:46
felt. Watching the shaft of light in the harbor in
04:46 - 04:48
his heart and mind, he saw the strength of the
04:48 - 04:51
trinity, a strong and sturdy triangle of hope with God
04:52 - 04:55
watching over him, jesus, showing the way and the power
04:55 - 04:58
of the Holy Spirit working with him to bring hope
04:58 - 04:58
to others.
05:00 - 05:02
The war's finally ended in his country.
05:03 - 05:06
Many had suffered, but the young artists brought hope to
05:06 - 05:09
a desperate fishing village time and time again with his
05:09 - 05:13
triangle of light reminding people that God is always with
05:13 - 05:15
us, no matter how terrible life may seem.
05:16 - 05:18
His art showed that faith and hope to have the
05:18 - 05:20
greatest gifts people can share.
05:21 - 05:23
And you can see on the board, I'm showing you
05:23 - 05:26
now two of his artworks, two of his pictures.
05:27 - 05:29
And you can see on the right hand side the
05:29 - 05:33
beautiful village with the harbor and the fishing boats looking
05:34 - 05:35
really beautiful and lovely.
05:36 - 05:38
And on the left hand side you can see another
05:38 - 05:41
picture, a picture where the boats no more and the
05:42 - 05:45
sky is dark and gray and you can see destruction
05:46 - 05:46
and war.
05:47 - 05:48
It doesn't look very nice.
05:48 - 05:51
But in both of those pictures you can see that
05:51 - 05:54
bright triangle of light, that shining light of the sun
05:54 - 05:57
coming through the clouds, reminding him of the holy trinity
05:58 - 06:01
and reminding him always to have hope and to share
06:02 - 06:02
that hope with others.
06:04 - 06:06
I want you to think to yourself now and just
06:07 - 06:10
reflect about a time when everything seemed dark to you.
06:11 - 06:13
What or who helped you through it.
06:15 - 06:18
Remember the feelings, you've got experience where things start to
06:18 - 06:23
get better and God teaches us through jesus to hold
06:24 - 06:26
on to those feelings as long as we can hold
06:27 - 06:30
on to those feelings, the feeling of something getting better,
06:31 - 06:33
remaining strong and always being hopeful.
06:34 - 06:39
And that's what the artist colored Fallout teaches us and
06:39 - 06:42
that's hopefully what that story teaches us to now.
06:43 - 06:46
We're very excited this afternoon because we have got reverend
06:46 - 06:49
Lorraine, reverend Lorraine has come to visit our school and
06:49 - 06:51
it's been quite a long time since reverend rain has
06:51 - 06:54
been able to come in and see everyone and come
06:54 - 06:56
into our school because we've had locked down because we
06:56 - 06:57
haven't been out here.
06:57 - 07:00
But finally, reverend rain is here to speak with us
07:00 - 07:02
and Revenue is going to talk to you now and
07:02 - 07:05
she's also going to give a blessing for trinity.
07:06 - 07:09
Yeah. Hello everyone, it's like being on the radio, so
07:09 - 07:11
if this is all a bit strange for me, it's
07:11 - 07:14
lovely to say hello to you all and I can't
07:15 - 07:17
tell you how excited I am to be back in
07:17 - 07:21
Kendall. I hope you had a lovely day despite the
07:21 - 07:25
rain. And I was just thinking as Mr Barrett Rockets
07:26 - 07:30
was talking about a service I did recently for some
07:30 - 07:34
people from within Kendall who decided that they would like
07:34 - 07:37
to get baptized and I baptize them in the name
07:37 - 07:41
of the father and of the son and of the
07:41 - 07:45
Holy Spirit, so the Father the Son and the Holy
07:46 - 07:50
Spirit that trinity and that hope that we have in
07:51 - 07:54
that light of God being with us at all times.
07:55 - 07:57
And so it was lovely to do that and it
07:57 - 07:59
was very exciting and it's nice to be here.
07:59 - 08:03
So hopefully I will see you in person but I'm
08:03 - 08:06
going to say the blessing no and this is a
08:06 - 08:08
blessing in the name of the father the Son and
08:08 - 08:12
the Holy Spirit God the Father by whose love christ
08:13 - 08:15
was raised from the dead open to you.
08:15 - 08:19
He believed the gates of everlasting life are men.
08:19 - 08:22
God the Son who in bursting from the grave has
08:22 - 08:23
won a glorious victory.
08:24 - 08:27
Give you joy as you share the east of faith
08:28 - 08:31
are men and God the Holy Spirit who filled the
08:31 - 08:35
disciples with the life of the risen Lord empower you
08:36 - 08:40
and fill you with christ peace and the blessing of
08:40 - 08:43
God Almighty Father son and Holy Spirit be with you
08:44 - 08:44
all ever.
08:45 - 08:49
Thank you, reverend Lawrence, lovely and lovely to have you
08:49 - 08:49
here at Kindle as well.
08:50 - 08:52
