  1. Hello. I'm recording this video today from my home in
  2. New York City, where it is very rainy.
  3. So you may hear a little bit of a percussion
  4. section in the background.
  5. That's the rain falling.

  13. on the slide.
  14. Um, others of us teach just first year courses introductory
  15. courses to first year students.
  16. So we are a band of people who are dedicated
  17. to the success of the first year students.
  18. We know that such a student needs their first encounter
  19. with this level of their education to be infused with
  20. authentically engaging material and often times that leads us to
  21. utilizing interdisciplinary approaches, strategies, toe learning.
  22. Um, there are many different kinds of learning, as we
  23. all know on dhe, the first year experience section is
  24. a place where we can come together to discuss how
  25. we can help our first year students be reflective.
  26. Practitioners understand how they're learning as well as what they're
  27. learning. So here in this section, we come together and
  28. we share experiences and strategies and advice and work we
  29. have done in the field.
  30. Uh, please consider joining us.
  31. And if you are so inclined, consider becoming a leader
  32. of the group.
  33. We need your voice.
  34. You can contact me at the address here on the
  35. slide or on tthe e A i s website.
