  1. the muppets survives By eight and Mubanga Background and Overview.
  2. The Muppets Avaz was created in 2005 and produced by
  3. Kirk Thatcher.
  4. The generalization of the entire movie is that Dorothy is
  5. a young girl working at a diner with it on
  6. them and he's going to an audition in the beginning
  7. of the movie for the muppets tour.
  8. one big difference is toto, it's actually a shrimp instead
  9. of a dog and the connection is that she is
  10. taken by a tornado to Oz in her little double
  11. wide house.
  12. The main device from the Land of Oz is that
  13. everything is based on show business and everyone is trying
  14. to be famous in some sort of way.
  15. Dorothy is journeying to the Emerald City in order to
  16. become a famous singer and to also get back home
  17. to Kansas.
  18. Many factors are the same, but many are not and
  19. they all relate to the series of Oz, the book,
  20. the original MGM film and the movie, the wiz.
  21. The characters, the main characters are mainly seen within this
  22. movie, which would be Dorothy played a Shiotani on m
  23. played by Queen Latifah.
  24. The Wizard played by Jeffrey Tom Burr, scarecrow, played by
  25. Kermit the Frog, all the wicked witches and the good
  26. witch is played by Miss Piggy, then the lion played
  27. by Fozzie Bear.
  28. And then lastly, Tin Man played by Tin Thing.
  29. Character connections.
  30. There's a major character that represents a longer, a larger
  31. picture of the entire Wizard of Oz connections and she
  32. has a very good actor and an influencer through the
  33. times. Her name is Queen Latifah, her major contribution and
  34. connections to Oz before and after all the writings such
  35. as the Wiz and the MGM film, The Wizard of
  36. Oz. Within the Wiz the Wiz live, she actually played
  37. the Wizard and she gave a very powerful performance however,
  38. and the muppets of Oz, she played on Em though
  39. she was not playing a larger role within the movie,
  40. she was still a connecting factor.
  41. Then we go to the director or other offers.
  42. Thatcher worked for the muppets since 1989 and began his
  43. career out with George Lucas.
  44. If many of you guys don't know, he was the
  45. creator of Star Wars.
  46. Thatcher did work for Star Wars, Star Trek, E.
  47. T. And many other big movies of the time of
  48. the start of his or height of his career.
  49. When Thatcher also began, he did a light and magic
  50. and Fresh Start Wars.
  51. One more thing to add for the movie and the
  52. authors, there were many authors that created and wrote the
  53. text of the movie.
  54. However, they took many factors of which would relate to
  55. the original text and the original movie.
  56. When they made when to make changes, they made them
  57. very noticeable, such as Dorothy working in a diner with
  58. on em instead of a farm.
  59. And then lastly within the picture, you can see hurt.
  60. Okay lastly within the picture you can see Kirk and
  61. Kermit the frog frog, who is actually one of the
  62. biggest names in the original tuck.
  63. It's connections within the movie.
  64. The muppets of Oz has many connections to the original
  65. book, the original movie and the movie, the wiz in
  66. the muppets of ours.
  67. It has the first thing that I noticed was that
  68. Dorothy was working in a diner with on em and
  69. the entire plot or purpose of Dorothy going to the
  70. Emerald City was somewhat different uh mainly because her goal
  71. was to obviously get home, but the entirety of the
  72. plot was for her to become a famous singer and
  73. get what she really wanted was to get out of
  74. Kansas uh huh as well as get out of the
  75. diner and just travel the world and become and be
  76. her own person.
  77. And lastly down below you can see a picture from
  78. the whiz with the kind of the lion, Dorothy, Tin
  79. man and scarecrow and then you can also see from
  80. the actual Wizard of Oz, the original movie of the
  81. MGm you can see Tin Man, Dorothy scarecrow and Lion.
  82. So for the first connection, the portrayal of the characters,
  83. the largest factor that changed within the movie was the
  84. characters and how they were portrayed, Such as the Munchkins,
  85. being rats, 10 man being a supercomputer and then the
  86. minions of the wicked which being all different instead of
  87. being of five monkeys.
  88. And second the big factor would be that Glinda only
  89. came out in the end.
  90. So basically when Dorothy landed in Oz, it was and
  91. she killed the Wicked Witch.
  92. one of the good witch is the sisters of Glinda
  93. and The wicked witch and the wicked witch of the
  94. west. And every all four sisters, she basically came, took
  95. the shoes off of her sister and gave them to
  96. Dorothy instead of using magic which would have been in
  97. the original or the wiz.
  98. Then third, other factors through all those small would have
  99. larger contributions to the actual setting of the muppets.
  100. Yeah, such as the biker gang who is controlled by
  101. the Wicked Witch, where they rode bikes and flew out
  102. flu and connection was to the Wiz where the Wicked
  103. Witch also have a gang of bikers at her disposal,
  104. used with the use of the biker cap or the
  105. golden calf.
  106. But the biker cap was within the markets of Oz
  107. and then down below the picture is all the biker
  108. gangs. The 4th one last factor would be that the
  109. music, which is weird because it was different.
  110. They didn't basically have any sort of music.
  111. When they met, when Dorothy met the scarecrow in the
  112. muppets of Oz, they didn't dance, they just came together,
  113. they went on their journey and then they found Tin
  114. Man, which was a supercomputer.
  115. He was connected to this old station and then they
  116. found the cowardly lion.
  117. And then once they were all together, they broke out
  118. in the song, decided to sing about everything that they
  119. were getting.
  120. And it was just different from the original movie, The
  121. Wiz or the text.
  122. Mm 30 total connection of them all.
  123. The reason behind a lot of these changes was to
  124. design a certain twist to everything and appeal to the
  125. crowd that that usually watches the muppets.
  126. The biggest picture of the changes is that they can
  127. fit the setting of the muppets and the wholesome family,
  128. the singing, the banter that engulfs the entire movies.
  129. Or shows that all the muppets have produced entirely, comparisons
  130. sit down below, you can see, or the first picture
  131. on the top would be from the Wiz where the
  132. Poppy Fields and everything with the connection to the original
  133. movie um in the MGm of the Poppy Fields.
  134. But they changed it up with the modern city and
  135. everything entirely.
  136. And then down below, just from the muppets of Oz,
  137. where's His Poppy Fields?
  138. And then Dorothy, Tin Man, Lion, Toto and scarecrow.
  139. We're trying to get into this nightclub.
  140. And so basically there were two scenes that I really
  141. want to compare the scenes of the poppies where in
  142. the movie, the ways the poppies represented, so called Call
  143. Girls or strippers who are trying to keep everybody from
  144. going on their drink to the Emerald City.
  145. And then within the muppets of Oz, it's a nightclub
  146. where they drink like drugged up drinks that apparently have
  147. poppies in them.
  148. And the group, basically it's the exact same plot and
  149. then what happens is down below in the nightclub, Tinman
  150. and Scarecrow aren't affected, mainly because they don't have everything
  151. that the Lion and Dorothy have, right, and then they're
  152. left to save Dorothy Toto and the Lion.
  153. And so they summon the munchkins from the beginning of
  154. when they first got there and the munchkins are at
  155. their service and so you can see in the picture
  156. below, there in gas masks so that they can go
  157. back in and help them and get them out and
  158. then interests.
  159. The one thing that was very interesting to me is
  160. the way that they were portrayed the entire, they portrayed
  161. the entire story of Dorothy's goal in Oz when the
  162. beginning, Dorothy was trying to audition for a role with
  163. the muppets and later made her way to us because
  164. she missed the audition basically like everything within it, the
  165. plot was show business like I stated earlier and how
  166. she wanted to make her career and her find her
  167. way home.
  168. Yeah, basically everything was a giant production of singers, actors
  169. and mostly everything that comes to mind when you think
  170. of show business and towards the end you would see
  171. that the wizard was actually hiding behind some sort of
  172. broadway show, like there was structures that would hide in
  173. like the wizard could change forms and show whoever and
  174. whatever they wanted.
  175. And then lastly my questions, one thing that I would
  176. like to ask is how does Dorothy connect or differentiate
  177. from the fact of original text, original MGM film and
  178. the movie the wiz.
  179. What was the purpose of changing the witches?
  180. Such as the fact that Glinda didn't actually come in
  181. until the end.
  182. One of her good sisters came to see Dorothy when
  183. she first arrived and gave her the shoes but no
  184. protection which was the protection of Glinda kissing Dorothy on
  185. the forehead so that she was able to make it
  186. to the Emerald City.
  187. How does this change the meaning and we're represent and
  188. change the entirety of the storyline or even some of
  189. the whole ability of the movie to go on and
  190. then how does the plot of the movie differ from
  191. the original book and movies and how does it relate
  192. to them?
  193. And then one last thing, the citations and then for
  194. everything, all the pictures and everything, thank you
