00:01 - 00:02
Hey, good afternoon.
00:02 - 00:04
The learners hope you're having a great day.
00:05 - 00:06
And I hope you had a really good weekend.
00:07 - 00:09
So I just wanted to kind of touch base with
00:09 - 00:11
you guys and let you know what we've been doing
00:11 - 00:14
in class today and then give you some pointers for
00:14 - 00:19
what to do today in this particular class period in
00:19 - 00:23
section. So I came into the classroom today and talked
00:23 - 00:25
a little bit about what we did over the weekend.
00:26 - 00:28
Uh, that is one thing that hopefully I'll get to
00:28 - 00:31
do with you guys soon as we get comfortable with
00:31 - 00:31
this format.
00:31 - 00:36
Maybe we conduce, um, um Google meats and get to
00:36 - 00:37
kind of know each other in that way.
00:38 - 00:40
But I like to always start out class with just
00:41 - 00:45
a little check in, especially on a Monday, and get
00:45 - 00:48
some stories about how everyone's weekends went and all that
00:48 - 00:48
kind of stuff.
00:49 - 00:53
So I'm pretty excited to hear from you guys, um,
00:53 - 00:57
on my side of things, I had a busy weekend
00:58 - 01:00
heard about you guys, but it seems like I've always
01:01 - 01:02
got something going on.
01:02 - 01:06
Um, we just bought a house a couple months ago,
01:07 - 01:11
and we added on, um, a couple extra bedrooms and
01:11 - 01:12
some living space in the bathroom.
01:13 - 01:16
So we're in the middle of renovations at my house,
01:16 - 01:18
which makes things really busy.
01:19 - 01:24
Um, and we're also living in Ah, the un renovated
01:24 - 01:25
side of the house.
01:25 - 01:28
That ihsaa way you too small for us.
01:28 - 01:31
So it's kind of been a couple a couple of
01:32 - 01:35
rough of Well, a couple of rough months.
01:36 - 01:39
Really? Honestly, as we try to you cream ourselves into
01:39 - 01:40
this little space.
01:40 - 01:43
So, um, but I did have a really good weekend.
01:43 - 01:45
Felt like the weather was pretty nice often on throughout
01:46 - 01:46
the reign.
01:47 - 01:48
Got a lot of things done outside.
01:49 - 01:50
So I hope you guys have a great weekend to,
01:51 - 01:54
um I did see a lot of people on face,
01:54 - 01:57
but starting to do things like, go to the movies
01:58 - 02:01
on and, um, get to do a few things that
02:01 - 02:02
we haven't been able to do in a while.
02:02 - 02:04
So I didn't go to the movies yet, but I'm
02:04 - 02:06
definitely excited to be able to do that soon.
02:08 - 02:10
Um, something is kind of what we had going on
02:10 - 02:13
today. We talked a little bit about the narratives assignment.
02:14 - 02:20
Um, for my Monday and ah, Wednesday classes.
02:21 - 02:22
That narrative is due today.
02:23 - 02:28
So if you, um, have a Monday Wednesday class, you
02:28 - 02:30
need to make sure that you go ahead and wrap
02:31 - 02:33
that up and get it turned into me today as
02:34 - 02:36
they did turn those enduring class.
02:37 - 02:38
So it's really important that you get that done.
02:39 - 02:42
Um, we're also starting just a quick a little assignment
02:43 - 02:47
that's done, Um, about your kind of like you're learning
02:47 - 02:52
profile? Um, it's ah ah, Siris of a couple online
02:53 - 02:55
quizzes that talk about your learning styles.
02:56 - 02:59
So learning styles and we're talking office in class learning
03:00 - 03:04
styles are kind of, um, a unique thing to talk
03:04 - 03:08
about. So our brains work so differently as humans.
03:09 - 03:11
Um, some of us learn different ways.
03:11 - 03:14
So, for example, I was telling the classes today, I
03:15 - 03:19
learned by reading really Well, you know, I can read
03:19 - 03:21
instructions and do what they tell me to dio Aiken
03:22 - 03:25
read about something and apply that to the next situation.
03:25 - 03:28
I'm also really good at learning by listening.
03:29 - 03:32
So if I'm in a class and the teacher's lecturing,
03:33 - 03:37
I can kind of retain that and use that as
03:37 - 03:39
needed, but not everybody is like that.
03:39 - 03:41
There's other learning styles as well.
03:42 - 03:47
Some people have to try something themselves before they learn
03:48 - 03:50
it more of a hands on kind of learner.
03:51 - 03:54
So there's definitely a lot of different ways that we
03:54 - 03:55
learn is helpful.
03:55 - 03:57
Helpful for me is your teacher to know kind of
03:57 - 04:01
where you are with that So of the video that's
04:01 - 04:05
right below this one has, um, a little screen cast
04:06 - 04:07
if I in it where I walk you through the
04:07 - 04:12
directions today on how to complete those learning style quizzes
04:13 - 04:16
and do a little reflection piece for me about what
04:16 - 04:18
she found out about yourself is a learner.
04:20 - 04:22
We're also gonna kind of talk in there a little
04:22 - 04:26
bit about, um, your personality and how it matches up
04:26 - 04:30
with your possibilities for a career path.
04:31 - 04:35
You know, whether you're a senior or freshman, um, kind
04:35 - 04:37
of at the age where you may be starting Teoh,
04:38 - 04:41
especially the seniors really starting to kind of think about
04:41 - 04:42
well, what I want to do after high school.
04:43 - 04:46
So that way we can use your time in class
04:47 - 04:48
to kind of work towards that goal.
04:49 - 04:53
So the other part of that activity today, Um, ask
04:53 - 04:56
you some questions about your personality and your learning style.
04:57 - 04:59
And then it kind of matches you up with some
04:59 - 05:02
career choices that mesh well with your personality.
05:03 - 05:05
So it's really just more kind of like a fun
05:05 - 05:08
thing to do as we talk about learning and learning
05:08 - 05:12
styles and how we all absorb information differently.
05:14 - 05:15
So that's what we've got going on today.
05:16 - 05:18
So tasks for you at home.
05:18 - 05:20
You need to make sure that you have that narrative
05:21 - 05:22
essay turned into me.
05:23 - 05:25
And then you need to go ahead and take these
05:25 - 05:29
learning quizzes that are talked about in that against the
05:29 - 05:30
videos, like, right below this one.
05:31 - 05:32
You don't watch it.
05:32 - 05:35
I'm gonna talk about, um, what I want you to
05:35 - 05:36
do with the next assignment.
05:37 - 05:40
That means to be done by the next time that
05:40 - 05:40
we meet.
05:40 - 05:44
So, for you guys, that would be on Wednesday afternoon.
05:45 - 05:51
So other than that, we are on schedule to begin
05:52 - 05:54
later this week working on curriculum.
05:55 - 06:00
So you will be starting to get into, like, the
06:00 - 06:02
textbook side of things of the reading material side of
06:02 - 06:04
things for our first unit.
06:04 - 06:08
So we'll be talking about that on Wednesday and, um,
06:09 - 06:12
getting, uh, long and information for how you're going to
06:12 - 06:15
access all of that information at home as well.
06:16 - 06:18
So I hope you guys have a great beginning to
06:18 - 06:21
the week and I'll talk to you again soon.
