00:00 - 00:01
Hello,
00:01 - 00:03
my name is Brooke and this is my presentation
00:03 - 00:07
on the effective hospitality leader and Culture Foundation.
00:09 - 00:13
Hospitality leaders become exceptional when they possess the attributes
00:13 - 00:17
to successfully create a comfortable environment for their consumers.
00:17 - 00:20
While also understanding that leadership is personal,
00:21 - 00:23
I will discuss throughout this presentation,
00:23 - 00:27
how understanding the basis of what it means to be an effective hospitality leader
00:27 - 00:30
and how understanding culture foundation can shape a
00:30 - 00:33
hospitality leader into being exceptional in their field.
00:36 - 00:38
The effective hospitality later
00:39 - 00:40
to reach full potential.
00:40 - 00:44
It is important for a hospitality leader to understand why being
00:44 - 00:47
effective is a priority in the pursuit of their own success.
00:47 - 00:50
Leaders are called leaders because they are leaders
00:50 - 00:52
of a group of people who follow them,
00:53 - 00:54
being effective in their role,
00:54 - 00:58
leads to those parking for them or with them being effective in their roles
00:59 - 01:00
in the hospitality industry.
01:00 - 01:04
Every person involved in the operation is crucial to its success.
01:05 - 01:10
The main goal to be reached is to provide the best experience to each consumer,
01:10 - 01:14
to do this. Each member needs to understand
01:14 - 01:17
and I understand that means they need to fully
01:17 - 01:20
understand the goals that the wait is leading to reach
01:20 - 01:25
and what the end outcome the waiter wants to have is
01:26 - 01:30
without the employees and those working together as a team with the leader,
01:30 - 01:32
understanding the end goal,
01:32 - 01:36
they're not going to feel obligated or fulfilled by
01:36 - 01:39
doing things that the leader wants them to do
01:39 - 01:40
without
01:41 - 01:42
knowing what
01:42 - 01:46
the end goal is. They can't fully reach their own potential
01:46 - 01:48
which then hurts the leader by the leader
01:48 - 01:50
not being able to reach their full potential.
01:52 - 01:55
The points that I want to make with the effect of
01:55 - 01:58
hospitality leader are moving their team toward a common goal.
01:58 - 02:01
And the fact that leadership is personal,
02:04 - 02:06
moving the team towards a common goal.
02:06 - 02:08
A leader leads from the front to make
02:08 - 02:11
sure that the business exceeds customer expectations.
02:12 - 02:16
The main goal in the hospitality industry is for customers to be
02:16 - 02:21
satisfied and for customers to want another experience with that same company.
02:22 - 02:26
So by a leader leading from the front and showing those on the team,
02:26 - 02:29
how they need to proceed and what they need to do to
02:29 - 02:34
meet and exceed customer expectations that leader is fulfilling their place in,
02:34 - 02:35
in their role,
02:36 - 02:39
ensuring that the team understands the plan created by the leader.
02:39 - 02:43
And the behind the plan is important in the leader's tactics, being effective,
02:44 - 02:48
a leader who does not comprehend the importance of effectiveness.
02:48 - 02:51
When explaining concepts to their to their team
02:51 - 02:55
will see failure. When the team begins putting it to practice,
03:00 - 03:01
leadership is personal,
03:02 - 03:05
the best leaders use their personal background experience and
03:05 - 03:08
qualifications to bring something special to the role,
03:08 - 03:13
be an authentic later and lean into the unique skills and experiences that you have
03:14 - 03:18
by bringing in personal experience and ideas into formulating a plan for
03:18 - 03:22
the team leaders can create more confident relationships with their team,
03:22 - 03:26
leading to more effective communication and follow through from the team
03:30 - 03:31
residual effects.
03:31 - 03:35
When a leader takes the route of keeping the main thing, the main thing
03:35 - 03:38
they have to dictate what that main thing is.
03:38 - 03:41
In the case of effective leadership being their main thing.
03:41 - 03:44
A leader can expect to see results that reflect that
03:44 - 03:48
a leader's employees will have a standing relationship with the leader.
03:48 - 03:51
That is consistent with their understanding of the goals that they need to reach.
03:51 - 03:52
Consumers,
03:52 - 03:54
will want to experience an environment that
03:54 - 03:57
they're comfortable in and want to continue experiencing
04:00 - 04:04
people become the center of an effective leaders focus because the entire
04:04 - 04:08
operation they are attempting to successfully lead is based on people,
04:09 - 04:14
the employees and the team need to feel fulfilled, hard and important to believe in.
04:14 - 04:16
The goal of the leader is trying to reach
04:16 - 04:20
as well as to be kind and accommodating to the consumers.
04:20 - 04:24
In turn, the consumers are always looking for the best experience possible.
04:24 - 04:27
And effective leader's main goal for these consumers
04:28 - 04:29
is for them to be satisfied,
04:29 - 04:34
for the leader to be successful in the industry, the consumers have to be satisfied
04:35 - 04:38
and their employees have to be satisfied as well.
04:40 - 04:42
Moving on to Culture Foundation,
04:42 - 04:44
it is the responsibility of our hospitality
04:44 - 04:48
leaders to set the expectations and rationale for
04:48 - 04:51
personal behavior and how each member of the group is to support one another.
04:52 - 04:54
For a hospitality leader to be exceptional.
04:54 - 04:56
They must understand and implement good practices
04:56 - 04:59
of organized culture in their operations.
04:59 - 05:02
Culture includes how employees communicate with one another,
05:02 - 05:03
their leaders and the cons
05:03 - 05:04
and the customers,
05:05 - 05:07
the perks and benefits offered to employees and even
05:07 - 05:09
the physical look and feel of the workplace.
05:09 - 05:13
Culture may be easy to influence. Yet it is difficult to change
05:15 - 05:16
the points that I want to hit on.
05:16 - 05:19
Culture foundation are authenticity and diversity and inclusion.
05:22 - 05:25
When building a culture, authenticity and honesty is key.
05:25 - 05:28
It is important to avoid a disconnect between messing
05:29 - 05:32
messaging around culture and the way people actually
05:32 - 05:34
feel about the workplace of the organization.
05:35 - 05:37
This is true for both the team and the consumers.
05:37 - 05:40
It is important for them both to feel comfortable in the environment
05:40 - 05:44
while also feeling comfortable to confront the issue if they do not
05:45 - 05:46
and know that it will be handled with care,
05:49 - 05:50
diversity and inclusion.
05:51 - 05:53
Company culture should be inclusive and
05:53 - 05:56
offer diverse perspectives and experiences whether
05:56 - 06:00
engaging a hotel's management team or conducting town halls with the employees.
06:00 - 06:03
It is important to be open to different perspectives
06:03 - 06:05
and to get feedback from a diverse set of voices
06:06 - 06:09
by being open to new ideas and perspectives.
06:09 - 06:12
Leaders can become exceptional leaders,
06:12 - 06:15
the ability to take feedback from different people
06:15 - 06:17
can allow a leader to cultivate a comfortable and
06:17 - 06:21
inclusive environment for each consumer while simultaneously creating
06:21 - 06:24
a comfortable and inclusive environment for each employee.
06:26 - 06:30
When a leader decides to lean in the direction of the main thing being the main thing.
06:30 - 06:32
But that thing being Culture foundation,
06:32 - 06:35
the leader is making a decision to overall else
06:35 - 06:37
place Culture Foundation at the forefront of how they lead
06:38 - 06:40
employees will feel included and necessary
06:41 - 06:45
to the everyday operation of the successful industry.
06:45 - 06:48
Consumers will feel comfortable in the environment and know that
06:48 - 06:50
they will be satisfied at the end of the experience.
06:50 - 06:53
Due to the inclusivity that they are being met with.
06:56 - 07:00
Culture includes how people communicate with each other, their leaders,
07:00 - 07:02
their their customers,
07:02 - 07:04
the perks and benefits offered to employees and even
07:04 - 07:06
the physical look and feel of the workplace.
07:07 - 07:09
People are the center point of culture,
07:09 - 07:12
employees and consumers need to feel
07:12 - 07:14
authenticity and say diversity through a
07:14 - 07:16
leader's actions and conversation to feel
07:16 - 07:20
that they are being represented in the industry or the company,
07:20 - 07:23
a leader who does not create relationships with people through this
07:23 - 07:26
channel will have a difficult time succeeding in the hospitality industry.
07:28 - 07:31
An exceptional leader is a leader who is put in the work to cultivate
07:31 - 07:34
an environment that is comfortable and realistic
07:34 - 07:36
for employees and consumers to reside in
07:36 - 07:38
an exceptional leader knows that people
07:40 - 07:42
the people that they are surrounded by each day are
07:42 - 07:45
the key to creating and sustaining a successful business.
07:47 - 07:50
And then here is my resource page.
07:51 - 07:51
Thank you.
