  1. Hi guys.
  2. I'm really excited to be back with you today.
  3. Continuing our weekly Bible lesson, we are going to move
  4. forward with less than 24.2 career.
  5. Now your focus for today is how to pray, and
  6. your weekly Bible verse comes from Matthew.
  7. Chapter six, verse six.
  8. So as we begin today's lesson, I'd like you to
  9. think about something.
  10. What would be easier solving a puzzle with or without
  11. a picture model?
  12. Now let me put this into perspective.
  13. When you buy a puzzle in a box, most of
  14. them, if not all of them, have the picture of
  15. what the puzzle should look like already on the box
  16. before you even get started.
  17. So as you work on it, you have a model
  18. toe look at then.
  19. Sometimes you might get a puzzle that doesn't come with
  20. a picture.
  21. It's just a box with puzzle pieces, So imagine what
  22. it would be easier to solve.
  23. Well, definitely almost always easier or someone to do a
  24. complex task.
  25. Um, if there's a model or perhaps even instructions available,
  26. so if you had the picture of the puzzle, you
  27. would likely have an easier time solving that puzzle or
  28. or finishing completing it, then you would if you had
  29. no guidance.
  30. Now Jesus knew that his disciples needed a model for
  31. prayer, and today's lesson will focus on Jesus Prayer model.
  32. Now Jesus's disciples were eager to know how to pray,
  33. so Jesus gave them a model prayer.
  34. Now this prayer is one that Christians frequently call the
  35. Lord's Prayer.
  36. Now, before Jesus gave the disciples this model, he gave
  37. them instructions about prayer.
  38. So if you'll join me in looking at Matthew Chapter
  39. six versus five through 13 and follow along as I
  40. read through this now you don't have to take your
  41. Bibles out cause I did provide that for you today.
  42. And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites,
  43. for they love to pray, standing in the synagogues and
  44. on the street corners to be seen by others.
  45. Truly, I tell you, they have received their reward and
  46. full, but when you pray, go into your room, close
  47. the door and pray to your father who is unseen.
  48. Then your father, who sees what is done in secret,
  49. will reward you, and when you pray, do not keep
  50. on babbling like pagans for They think they will be
  51. heard because of their many words.
  52. Do not be like them for your father knows what
  53. you need before you ask him.
  54. No. Jesus told the disciples that they were not supposed
  55. to be hypocrites People who Onley pretend to have a
  56. close relationship with God now.
  57. Rather, he wanted them to spend time alone with God
  58. when they prayed and wanted them to pray sincerely.
  59. Jesus also warned his disciples not to simply recite memorized
  60. prayers without thinking about the words.
  61. So now what I'm going to do is I'm going
  62. to continue finishing this specific verses and actually read the
  63. prayer to you.
  64. Now this one does come from the new international version.
  65. This, then, is how you should pray our father in
  66. heaven. How it would be your name, your kingdom Come,
  67. your will be done on earth as it is in
  68. heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive
  69. us our debts as we also have forgiven our debtors
  70. and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from
  71. the evil one.
  72. Now the Lord's Prayer teaches followers of Jesus what to
  73. pray for and included in these in the prayer are
  74. what we call petitions.
  75. Now petitions are defined as a request, something a believer
  76. of God asks for Now, I'm going to basically break
  77. down, um, versus nine through 13 of this Lord's Prayer
  78. and just kind of show you what?
  79. Um, The explanations are for each of these verses and
  80. and show you the petitions that are mentioned the requests
  81. that are placed into this prayer.
  82. So in verse nine, it says hallowed hallow means holy.
  83. So this statement tells believers that God's name is holy.
  84. And when Christians pray in this way, you are praising
  85. God for His Holiness.
  86. And you are also acknowledging that God's name must be
  87. used in the right way.
  88. So how long would be thy name now, then in
  89. verse 10 by kingdom come, they will be done.
  90. This verse is a request for God's kingdom to come
  91. and his will be done.
  92. When Christians pray this petition, they are acknowledging that they
  93. are subjects in God's kingdom.
  94. They are also acknowledging that they need to seek to
  95. discover and obey God's will in their life.
  96. Now then, in verse 11 this petition is a request
  97. for God to supply the physical needs of his people.
  98. Whether those needs are the needs of the person praying
  99. or the needs of others.
  100. Now, in verse 12 this petition is a request for
  101. God's forgiveness.
  102. But it also involves responsibility for you as Christians to
  103. forgive those who have sinned against you.
  104. Okay, that's a really important one.
  105. Forgive those who have sinned against you, and then finally,
  106. in 13 God, the This is something that people often
  107. bring up because it says lead us not into temptation.
  108. God does not tempt anyone to sin.
  109. And you can find a reference of this in James
  110. 1 13 So, what does this verse mean?
  111. What is this petition?
  112. Well, this verse simply is a request for God's help
  113. facing temptation.
  114. Um, you know, we are often in the face of
  115. temptations daily.
  116. There are different things that come into our lives.
  117. And we have to make a choice.
  118. And this petition, this request, um, that we are asked
  119. God for is to help us when we're in the
  120. face of temptation and to help us not go in
  121. that direction.
  122. Now, what's really important about these last two lessons that
  123. you've learned about in 24.1.
  124. Euler, you looked at prayer in general.
  125. And then now we're learning how to pray.
  126. So how can we use what we learned today and
  127. yesterday in our lives?
  128. Well, first yesterday you learned that there are five aspects
  129. of prayer we have praise, um, confession and repentance, Thanksgiving
  130. as well as others needs and personal needs.
  131. Okay. Now, these, um, are aspects of prayer that are
  132. actually, um, reflected in the Lord's Prayer model, which is
  133. what you learned today.
  134. Today you learned how to pray, and you learn how
  135. to pray by using the Lord's Prayer.
  136. And so let's combine these two.
  137. So if you observe the model, if you observe the
  138. Lord's Prayer and take a closer look at it, you
  139. will have those aspects of the five aspects of prayer
  140. with in it so you can use it as a
  141. guide when you pray.
  142. So here are some examples In verse nine we represent
  143. praise in verse 10.
  144. You are praying for the personal needs in verse 11
  145. you were praying for others needs or even more personal
  146. needs and verse 12 you are praying for confession and
  147. repentance. And then, of course, Verse 13.
  148. You're praying for your personal need again going back to
  149. help asking God to help you not be led into
  150. temptation. So is very important that you commit the Lord's
  151. Prayer to your memory that you take time every day.
  152. If you don't already have it memorized and use it,
  153. use it because when you don't know how to pray,
  154. this is the prayer that you can use.
  155. And, um, and and this will guide you and lead
  156. you into other ways that you can pray.
  157. So I'd like to end this lesson with a reflection
  158. to action.
  159. So your reflection today will be to, um to think
  160. of to be blessed by the things that you learn.
  161. You are incredibly blessed by the things that you are
  162. learning. Ah, in Bible every day and every week.
  163. And now you reflect on that.
  164. And I want you to think about this because God
  165. has already prepared these things for you, and they're they're
  166. here for you In every day, every week, every month,
  167. and every year that you are coming to school, something
  168. else is being revealed.
  169. God reveals at the right time when we need it.
  170. And he doesn't just reveal it to us for our
  171. own personal knowledge.
  172. But he reveals it to us so we can do
  173. something with it.
  174. We can take action.
  175. So this is now your action time.
  176. You need to go and bless others with this knowledge.
  177. We need to spread this this message.
  178. We need to get more people.
  179. Teoh here, um, the amazing things that God is doing
  180. in their life and maybe they just don't realize it
  181. yet. So be blessed again that you know all of
  182. these things be excited that you're going to be learning
  183. more as the years come and when Now that you
  184. know, or when you do know go, go and bless
  185. others. And during this time again of uncertainty and panic
  186. and fear that we have in our world, nothing could
  187. help anyone more been prayer.
  188. And if you can share what you know about the
  189. Lord's prayer, it can give someone a starting point somewhere
  190. to start, um, to pray and and then maybe they
  191. will take that knowledge.
  192. It is our hope anyway, that they'll take that knowledge
  193. and share it with someone else, and it will continue
  194. to be a chain reaction.
  195. And and that's what we That's what we can hope.
  196. And, um, And to know that that all started with
  197. you is a really, really amazing thing.
  198. Okay, so that concludes everything for today.
  199. I'll need you to go to, um, the Google form
  200. assignment after you watch this and just complete a short
  201. assignment for me.
  202. And then you are free to go.
  203. So until tomorrow, everybody enjoy your day and we'll see
  204. you seem by
